why do we celebrate on New Years

it all seems kind of silly to me that just because we change the calendar everybody has to get drunk and celebrate...what are we celebrating anyway??
just change your calendar to January and go to bed! as a wise man in the chat room once said "HAPPY JUST ANOTHER DAY!"

Anxiety

it's a big deal to me, because it represents the end of a year and the beginning of another year. last new years, it marked the end of a shitty year and the beginning of a plan to make a very happy 2004. twelve months later, i'm going to celebrate a freakin' phenomenal year and ring in a 2005 that's gonna be even better. so i'm either killing off a crappy year or celebrating a good year when i recognize new year's eve and the big countdowns.
