There are very few good absinthes that you can get. The best usually comes from the Czech Republic, but Spain and France also make some descent stuff. Most absinthes are just immitation bullshit. They usually contain 70% alcohol, so at most, they'll just get you fucked up quick.
The only way you're gonna get secondary effects is if you get absinthe with a lot of thujone in it. Thujone comes from wormwood, and a lot of that can make you trip. Most absinthes contain about 10% thujone.... which ain't shit. There is however one called Absinthe King Gold, which has 100% thujone. I hear it tastes like shit and runs over $200 per bottle, but it can make you see your dead grandmother climbing up your leg with a knife in her teeth. But for that price, you may just wanna get some shrooms or acid. If you do feel like trying some absinthe, start out with La Fee, or Pernod. They usually get top ratings.
