:bawl:

Omigawd.

So, it's been kind of a rough year. For a variety of reasons that I really can't go into here. But anyway, been having trouble really getting into this xmas bit, feeling generally down, blah blah blah. So today I'm helping this really sweet guy with AIDS and hepatitis and just a hell of a fucking life behind him clean his house and listening to him talk about how he's going to be alone for the holidays and is trying to keep from being evicted from his apartment next week, and just thinking. . .what a world.

But I'm holding it together ok, right?

And then what do I do?

I come home and watch Terms of Endearment.

eek

Ah, shit.

bawl cry fit bawl

Somebody hold me. :sniff:

it has been a rough year. Christmas time can be hard because everyone is suppose to be happy and joyful this time of year it almost highlights how much saddness is in the world and in your own life. Earlier in the week I was walking in Penn Station and I saw this homeless guy. My goodness, he didn't even have shoes. he was walking around in these shower sandals, bare feet exposed, babbling and out of his damn mind. Iknow he didn't start out that way and I wonder why we live in such a world where people can get that way. goodness.

My sister, and I were discussing homeless last eve.. It is so frigidly cold here, we wondered how they were keeping warm..

It reminded me of a man I see everyday as I come to work... He is about 6'10'' tall, most beautiful blue eyes ever.. Keeps himself clean.

His whole life is in a shopping cart.. I often stop to give him money, or food. The look of gratitude in his eyes says so much to me..

I wonder how he is spending his Christmas day? Where ever he is Merry Christmas.

Yeah, it's so hard to see. And I live in freakin' Seattle, I'm sure it's even worse in places with more extreme weather. I don't know. Realistically, I have a great, incredibly priviledged life compared to 98% of the world's population. I'll be fine. But a lot of people have it really rough, and it's hard to see the iPods and designer jeans flying this way and that when people are cold and hungry. . . I'm typing this on a shiny new computer, the money for which could have fed a hundred people a good dinner tonight. You know?

First-world guilt. Boo hoo, right? Better to have the guilt than the hunger. Meh. neutral

Logistical problems, on his end and mine, would have made it difficult to spend it with him, but I did think about it. It's a sweet idea, darlings. hug

I did drop by with a little prezzie for him. I hope it brightened things a smidge.

I hope you all are having very nice holidays.

You are going along the path just fine. When I look in your eyes I see a woman wise far beyond her years with a intellect that makes dealing with things at her chronological age difficult at best! You are warm and deep and loving and understanding the cold cruel judgmental world around you is often disheartening. It can plunge you deep in a direction you really don't want to go out of rebellion against all you see.... remember along the way this... Don't let them in. You are going to be just fine. The them are known by many names.... the nay sayers.. etc... They do not seek to elevate themselves and always seem to grab at your heals and keep you in place so as not to feel pained for not seeking greater for themselves.

I wrote my daughter a letter this Christmas. In it I wrote this and it applies to you too... ( I was going to remove the mother parts to adapt it for you.... but as an older sister I am going to leave them)

It brings me great pride to see what a beautiful kind soul you are. You are truly an honor to know as a person and a blessing to love as your mother. NEVER change my girl. Carry this love for life always. Don't let the world change your point of view... YOU go out there and change theirs!
(The following is meant only as my point of view as I know you accept difference.)
There is nothing in this world you can't do. Stay close to God. Trust him above all ... call on him often.... I am here for you always and nothing is to big for us to handle together.
Stay strong Melissa!!
