Sydneysiders: Can we arrange for a screening of Purple Rain?

(Mods can we please leave this here? More people will see it... pray)

Fellow Sydneysiders: In the spirit of the Org gathering, I say we contact a smallish independent cinema, say Dendy Newtown or the Valhalla, and see if we can arrange for a late-night cult screening of Purple Rain. Or failing that, any of the other movies. nod Imagine a midnight double feature of Purple Rain and Under The Cherry Moon! drool What do you think? I think if we get a big list together of people who'd be willing to go, they might just do it.

I talked to Natisse about this and she's down... who else is with me on this? woot!

Yeah, that would be cool.

The 3 movies (PR, UTCM & GB) are getting a local DVD release on Feb 2nd 2005, maybe Warners could arrange a screening as promotion for the set.

I remember Derek from the org saying a while back that he may have some sort of pull in organising a PR screening in a cinema, but that was over a year ago, and I don't know if he's in that same position 2day as back then, but u could only ask and see I guess

Hell, why don't we get them to run a marathon of PR, UTCM and GB? lol
Now THAT'd be a night! Like one helluva rock concert.

And actually you might wanna get on the phone to WB Australia's promotional department as well... nod

We should also see if they'd do Sign "O" the Times. I remember going 2 see that in the cinemas, and they had that movie's volume crankin' up to 11! It was so loud (because Prince gave the orders for when the movie was shown in cinemas, they had to play the movie at a certain loud level to give the movie goer a "concert experience"), it was awesome!

(Bit of trivia: My name was Dylan until last year, when I had it legally changed because "Dylan" is a bitch to pronounce for stutterers and Art was cooler. Also my hip-hop name is M.C. Brown Shoes. nod)
