What Did You Get? My parents came to visit today. I'm sure everyone knows that by now, since I've been ranting about it for days. My mom has been asking me for months what I want for Christmas, and she insists on knowing exactly what I want because she always says she doesn't know what to get me. So this year I decided to just pick something and insist that's all I want, hoping I'd actually get it and have a useful present for once. For months I told her every store and price I'd found it at, and all the accessories she can buy for it. I took her and showed it to her a few times. I talked about it every time I was around her.
So what'd she do? She went out and spent twice as much as she would have spent on that thing, on a pile of useless stuff I don't even want and probably won't ever use, and then said she couldn't afford to buy the thing I asked for. Don't ya hate that... I mean sure, it's the thought that counts really. But she asked what I wanted, I told her, she said okay and even asked where to get it, and I looked forward to getting it and now I don't have it. Well I hope everyone else had a more productive day and won't spend the night putting away a pile of stuff they don't want. What did you all get for Christmas? I reject your reality and substitute my own.

I am glad you have a firm grasp of what Christmas is for----getting what you want. Sorry, but damn, there are plenty of folks who get absolutely nothing. Take all your pile and give it to someone who will appreciate it, or at least appreciate the effort.

Take all your pile and give it to someone who will appreciate it, or at least appreciate the effort. Hey, you don't have to remind me of what Christmas is for... I didn't mean to come across all selfish-like. Believe me, I don't really think like that. I just didn't like that she wasted all that money on things I can't use. I do appreciate that she was thinking of me, but she didn't need to buy me anything at all. It's just that she insisted on getting me something and well...it's a complicated situation with my mom; I'm not that selfish and evil, honestly. If you knew me, you'd know I'm not like that at all. Of course I plan to make the most of what I got, and give what I can't use to someone who can. Sorry that first post came out wrong... I'm just mad at my mom lately, for complicated things not at all related to Christmas presents, so things are kinda coming out wrong... Please don't think I'm a bad person. I didn't mean to come across like that at all. I just wanted to know what everyone got for Christmas and I shouldn't have posted while I was in a bad mood... If it makes you feel any better, no one else got me anything at all and that's just fine with me. I'm glad just to see the people I love for the holidays. I'm the last person to demand gifts. Seriously. I reject your reality and substitute my own.

Seriously. I was a bit harsh, too. Sorry. I am nauseous and just want to go to bed, but am preparing for church tomorrow. (Which makes me look like a bigger jerk, huh?) it will all be good I didn't think you were a bad person for complaining....we all do it. peace!

Mostly useful stuff, which is nice.
I wanted a little bar setup for entertaining and playing bartender, so my folks gave me and my harem a cocktail shaker and jigger and stuff, a great bar guide, several bottles of basic booze (vodka, gin, whisky, rum, brandy, port), and some grenadine. Got some cds (U2, Rufus Wainwright, REM), Starbucks cards, silver and blue beaded earrings, a cool silver crucifix (from my agnostic grandmother to her athiest grandchild ), and a really beautiful little quilted wall hanging (also from aforementioned grandmother). Jasmine Mint toothpaste and a purple plaid toothbrush. Happy Bunny incence (package: "Because your room smells like butt!") from my little sister. Lip gloss. Cute underwear. And a free-range partridge in an artificial pear tree constructed from recyled pop bottles. Ok, not really. Anyway, my family is sweet and generous, I'm a lucky girl, and I'm grateful.

I asked for and received a new hairdryer because my old one stopped working. And then it started working again. So now I have 2.

My old TV crapped out on me, so I got a new one.
Also, a dvd player, and a whole bunch of random lil trinkets. Very cute, but I'm not sure what to do with all of them. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

I am actually not that too delighted about one of my presents. It's like a plasma ball but it's in the shape of a huge gin bottle. Yes, it's a bottle that has real lightnings going inside of it. I have a small apartment, care for my decours and I don't want to put it anywhere, nor do I really have the space. Especially as I don't drink alcohol that much and certainly don't consider bottles classy as decorative items. Now, what the fuck I am going to do it? It's fucking bottle with lightnings inside it. Screams class.

I celebrated ChristmasEve with my family (not including my mom) and my boyfriend and his dad, who came all the way from France. Everyone had to buy one present for one person. I bought a skijacket for my boyfriend and he bought a very beautiful necklace for me...

I got a DVD Recorder from my parents. It took me over three hours to set it up so that it will record from terrestrial analogue / digital signals; my old VCR and a laserdisc player. There were wires everywhere...
I love it. I'm such a spoiled brat. My friend Fiona gave me a friendship bracelet which she'd woven herself - which was very thoughtful and nice.

my family requested my wishes that they not go overboard this year and get me loads of gifts. i was interested in having them spend all sorts of money on things i would never buy on a normal day anyway. so instead they actually got me sensible stuff that i kinda hinted at.
a Hoover for my new apartment a book of old early 20th century photos of Bermuda a gift certificate ok my sister did get me a tacky shirt but at least i can exchange it. and that was it. nice and sweet.

I got mainly the useful things I asked for. A really cute teapot, a gift card, my parents renewed my triple A membership (since I am forever leaving my headlights on and needing a jump) and my 14 year old niece made me a cute blanket with kitties all over it that will keep me warm in my freezing cold apartment. And then my mom gave me this weird garden statue of a little girl with a cat in her lap. It's cute and all, but not really my thing and I'm not sure what she was thinking... |

Things I could use:
A dark green shirt -- good to pair with suits A tie (to match the shirt) A USB flash drive -- attaches to my keychain and stores my files A bit of a geeky Christmas perhaps, but I have no complaints at all. I didn't really want anything material that I didn't already have.

From my parents I also got a bath-set thing, a black and white shirt, chocolates, a bottle of gin. There were a couple of other things too like packets of blank CDs and blank DVDs. My brother bought me an eau-de-toilette/shower-gel set. It's Givenchy Pi. My sister bought me another bath set which came with a keyring digital camera. I got wine and a dart-board from some aunties. My friend Emma bought me a huge gift-basket of cheese with a bottle of red wine in it. My friend Kris bought me another bath set with scented candles.
