I've been feeling the same way. No matter how much I decorate or how many songs I sing, it just doesn't feel like Christmas. And the lack of snow is just making it worse.

Actually, I've never been a Christmas freak.

For me, it's just alot of shopping alot of fake thankyou's and alot of having to put up with family.

That shit is annoying as hell.

I've just grown to not expect a little bit of hassell then to move on.

Not Christian.
So, no--I wouldn't understand.
But, thanks for making those assumptions on my behalf.

I've kind of felt that way too. It's been on and off with me. I'm not sure what the deal is.

I haven't been feeling it at all even though I've been shopping, there's a foot of snow on the ground, I spent the day with family and friends and the house is fully decorated. I think because my family took such a hard hit this year, it'll take a couple years to adjust.

I know that feeling. But maybe becuz I have grown used to loss, I am overly aware of the people I love. I have not been able to show it, YET, but I will soon to my friends HERE.

Our family is also still adjusting. But I do not feel overly sensitive over the holidays. I am not religious, so I do not tend to see cristmas as something holy. Indeed I am also one of those people who dislike the commercial aspect of it. While it should be the feast of light.

And that's how I gave xmas a face this year, went to the one I miss most and lit a candle. That helped me.

I took your tip and it was time well spent. I'm really glad I went and my mom decided to go too. We bought roses.

nod Agreed. I noticed that there were not many X-mas concert or events being aired on the tele too much this year. I wonder what's up with that. you would think that the television networks would try to air some good Christmas shows but instead they aired crap.

I have years I am into it and years I am not...

This was an in year! I am glad it's done however. I was very thankful for a great many things and a lot of growth on my part this last year. I used it to spend time with and focus on the people I love all around me! I spent a lot of time in thankful mode.

I was Christmas threw up everywhere this year.

As for the Christian aspect, I focus on that year round and easily disassociate a good deal of the festivities from Christianity and enjoy both aspects respectively.

Christmas was all right, I suppose. It wasn't nearly as festive as usual, though. My brother is usually a part of the proceedings, and as he is currently fighting in Iraq, he could not attend.

We managed, though. I must say it wasn't a bad Christmas at all, all things considered.

It wasn't the most festive xmas.

For me, it's really about getting together with family. There are some people I basically only see at xmas, so it's important to me to go. This is the first year that I mostly opted out of the whole gift-buying bit --I just made bags of chex mix and tied them up with candy canes-- and I didn't expect to feel bad about it, because I told people in advance, but in reality, as much as the whole commercial aspect of this holiday annoys me, it's hard to get a bunch of gifts when you're not giving a bunch of gifts. Or, it's hard for me. So that was a bit of a bummer. Even though I KNOW it shouldn't bother me. confused

Just culturally, I think we've gotten ourselves into this huge trap of it being about spending and spending and wallowing in piles of wrapping paper, and with the economy having been depressed for a few years now, nobody can afford it and it's stressful. . . it's nutso. I wish that we would all just take a year off!

But I'm stuck in it like everyone else. I'd probably just stop celebrating xmas (or, as I like to call it, Winter Happy Time) and make my own damn holiday if I wanted one, but. . .my family would be upset if I missed the gatherings, as would I. . . bleh.

ANYway. Made the best of it, enjoyed parts of it, glad it's over. smile
