My oldest brother was supposed to fly in to Cleveland this morning from Raleigh, North Carolina. Because we had a very bad blizzard here, many things were shut down, including all flights coming in and out of Cleveland. My brother called the airline to see if they could give him another flight, but unfortunately that was not possible, due to the fact that the airlines are very booked up right now with holiday travel. So now my brother is trying to arrange it so that he can come in a week from today (the day before New Years Eve). My other brother and his wife are having a New Years Eve party, so I think my oldest brother had that in mind when he came up with Plan B.

It's a bummer knowing that my oldest brother will not be with us on Christmas, since he comes into town every year to celebrate with us. He is great fun to be around, and likes to laugh and have a good time. My mom said that he sounded very sad on the phone, which is understandable, because shoot, he wanted to be here too. It will be a different kind of Christmas, that's for sure. My two little nephews will miss him as well, because my oldest brother always plays with them when my family gets together.

The only positive thing I can think of in this situation is that he didn't get on a plane that experienced some kind of difficulties or wound up crashing. The other positive thing that comes out of this is that my brother and sister-in-law will be together this Christmas for a change. Usually my sister-in-law stays in Raleigh for Christmas, since her two boys (from a previous marriage) spend time with her.

I'm trying to look on the bright side of this, and to tell myself that maybe I will see my brother in time for New Years Eve. But I still feel sad knowing that he will not be with us on a major holiday. I know, I can't change how things turned out, but it is still depressing.

Can we blame the airlines for the snow?

I wish that was possible.

I'm sure my brother will be calling us all on Christmas Eve or Day to say hello. He calls people in the family on their birthdays too.

there's a seriously high possibility that the same thing is going to happen with me, and that i won't be able to fly into indiana from chicago tomorrow morning. it'll be a major bummer if that happens...for the first year in a long time, i'm really looking forward to visiting indiana for christmas, for no other reason than i'm just kinda into it this year, and it looks as though my christmas might be postponed.

and as if that isn't enough, my sweetie is with his family in maine, so i'll be out here all alone. double .

hopefully the flight will work out okay, but it's not looking good. indiana's really getting hit bad this week.
