Moral Dilemma - wot do i do? i bought some Xmas presents tonight and i used my credit card. it should have come to $66 but i just got home and looked at the CC slip and i signed for $6.60.
do i go back to the store and tell them to fix it or do i forget about it? the girl was kinda "whatever" about the fact that i bought something there.

Whichever way you choose, the girl's job may be at stake, but at least you wouldn't have any guilt about shorting them the $. But that's just me.

if it really bothers your conscience then return it. but unfortunately i've been a cashier for a lot of stores and i gotta tell you, if your receipt comes up as 6 bucks then thats all that will show in the system is six bucks. the girl won't get fired.

If the store doesn't sell any items with that low of a price, it will be noticed. True, the cashier probably won't lose her job over it, but she might get shit. The fact that the girl was "kinda 'whatever'" about the fact that you bought something there is irrelevant; it's about the owner of the store. Most importantly, it's about doing the right thing. You'll feel better about yourself for setting it straight.

unless the item on the register reciept has a sku number they can look it up and see the item was 66.00 and re count the drawer out and it'll be 66.00 short.

don't go back i accidently stole something the other day, my head is in a mess at the minute and only realised i was still holding the object i hadn't paid for when i got back to my car!!!
i was in my own world, the store didn't stop me when i just walked out either, i did feel guilty but it's not as if i did it on purpose

What are you kidding me? If you feel bad about it donate the 59$ for charity instead. Especially if you bought it from a big store, amounts that small mean nothing in their daily income. We used to have this saying in London when I was part-homeless, living in cheap hostels: "It's not a crime to steal from a supermarket".

when i was broke and my son was a newborn, he didn't have any milk so i went to a store and stole a can of formula-not proud of it but at the time i didn't care. if he really feels bad about it do what is right.
