"So although you may think it a great privation to lose the use of your land and houses, still you must see that this power is something widely different; and instead of fretting on their account, you should really regard them in the light of the gardens and other accessories that embellish a great fortune, and is, in comparison, of little moment." - The Peloponnesian War, Thucydides (p.123, sentence 5)

I'd love to know what kind of breakthrough you have with it, if any... A month after I finished it I was finally able to write songs! I had instrumental pieces and lyrics in seperate folders until I read that book.

pray

I started "teaching myself" 10 weeks ago, and previous to reading this book, I hadn't really written much ever, but I always wanted to. I've done the morning pages, writing at least 3 pages a day every day for the last 10 weeks (I've only skipped 3 days) and I've accumulated about 300 pages of writings. It's caused me to come up with ideas I never knew how to articulate and it really gave me the motivation to write.
I really think that you have to be at the right place in your life to make the book work, but I think I was there when I got it (it was actually the night that Wendy & Lisa were at the Mac Store). As soon as I finish the book, in 2 weeks, I am going to begin a screenwriting class... I think I am finally ready now.

That is so awesome! Congrats!!!

Another cool thing about the book is that there is sooooo much information, what you don't need at the time will not get in the way, but will be there when you need it and re-read the book! So it also kinda works in layers too.

Thanks! And Congrats 2 u 2!

The thing I like best about the book is that it doesn't teach you 'how,' instead it teaches you 'why'

We all have the 'how' inside of us, we just need the 'why' to bring it out.

The good thing we can both reflect on is the next time we say "I can't do that," we can prove ourselves wrong with what we've written as a result of that book.

You know how in the book it tells you to be on the look out for coincidences... the way this book came into my life was one coincidence after another....
