I'm the leader of the Employee welfare forum at work. It's bizarre. My photo's on all the walls...
It really stresses me out. I go to meetings about once a day and try and sort everybody's problems out. I got voted in because I'm gobby, I guess. If I've got something to say, I'll say it. My personal life is really messy but at work I'm treated like I'm important. I'm on a really shitty wage. I'm completely taken for granted but I negotiated with the Human Resources manager to let over 1,000 staff go home at 02:00pm at Christmas Eve. I've got more sway than the union reps. I left the union a few months ago and the chief union rep sent an email to all the members (copying me in) stating that he was "disappointed" with me. 
I think I might stand down next year. | |
