Classic movie-definitely one of my all-time favorites.

Richard O'Brien (Riff Raff), the creator and writer of the Rocky Horror play and film (musically and script with his collaborator Jim Sharman) doesn't get near the respect he deserves.

Richard also has a great album out there as well:

No music from Rocky Horror but some really great stuff in its own right.

Of course add Tim Curry, Barry Bostwick (who I also loved on Spin City as the Mayor), and Susan Sarandon to the list-Tim especially who made that role what it is.

If you don't have it already-check out the Special Edition DVD-Disc 2 has some great, great stories from Meatloaf and a tour of the castle they used with Richard playing his acoustic and talking about things a bit.

Also on Disc 1-there's a 3rd version of the film (on top of the US and UK versions of course) that's black and white up to the point they open the doors and go into the chorus of Time Warp-which then changes to color a la The Wizard of Oz.

Case

This movie changed my life at the age of 15 and I will never be able to thank it enough.

I've dressed as Frank N Furter many times. One of the highlights of my life was performing "Sweet Transvestite" in full Frank regalia live in front of 200 people.

nod I gave myself over to Absolute Pleasure when I was in high school...when I first saw it I had no idea what I was in for...the people dressed up in front of the screen...the midnight only showing...but, when Frank stepped off the elevator and whiped off that cape... drool I knew I was in good company wink

Sweet Transvestite

Frank:
How d'you do, I
See you've met my
Faithful handyman.
He's just a little brought down
Because when you knocked
He thought you were the candy man.
Don't get strung out by the way I look.
Don't judge a book by its cover.
I'm not much of a man by the light of day
But by night I'm one hell of a lover.
I'm just a sweet transvestite
>From Transexual, Transylvania.
Let me show you around
Maybe play you a sound.
You look like you're both pretty groovy.
Or if you want something visual
That's not too abysmal,
We could take in an old Steve Reeves movie.

Brad:
I'm glad we caught you at home,
Could we use your phone?
We're both in a bit of a hurry.

Janet:
Right.

Brad:
We'll just say where we are,
Then go back to the car.
We don't want to be any worry.

Frank:
Well you got with a flat, well, how `bout that?
Well, babies, don't you panic.
By the light of the night it'll all seem alright.
I'll get you a satanic mechanic.
I'm just a sweet transvestite
>From Transexual, Transylvania.
Why don't you stay for the night? (Night)
Or maybe a bite? (Bite)
I could show you my favourite obsession.
I've been making a man
With blond hair and a tan
And he's good for relieving my... ...tension
I'm just a sweet transvestite
>From Transexual, Transylvania.
HIT IT, HIT IT!
I'm just a sweet transvestite. (Sweet transvestite)
Sweet transvestite
>From Transexual, Transylvania.

So - come up to the lab,
And see what's on the slab.
I see you shiver with antici - (3 seconds) - pation.
But maybe the rain
Isn't really to blame.
So I'll remove the cause. (chuckles)
But not the symptom.

My wife adores this film, and I was always a bit wary of it. Kind of take it or leave it, but I saw the stage show of it and I have to say - if you get a chance, go!

I played Dr. Frank N Furter for (way too) many years in Houston. First, I started off at the legendary Bel-Air Theater, then moved to the River Oaks. The film is fantastic, and the stage version even more so.

Regardless of whether it was the play or the film with live cast/audience participation, I always had a blast playing the (not so)good doctor! The last time I visited this role was for a special Halloween performance at the Strand Theater in Galveston in 2000. We got together many of the actors from the earlier production, and put on a one-night show. It was a great way to retire from that role.

Of course, years later I would take this experience to the next level when I played Hedwig. Two roles where I've cross-dressed? hmmm No wonder so many people doubted I was straight!
