Conspicuous Consumption

Here's all the recent items in my Ebay purchase history...

Laserdisc - Prince & The Revolution: Live!
£13.44

It's in a plastic transparent sleeve in this picture. It's in absolutely mint condition. I haven't been able to watch it yet though. sad I did have this on VHS but I leant it to somebody and never got it back. Bastards.

DVD - prince Rave Un2 The Year 2000 (Bootleg)
£0.03

I had no idea this was a bootleg when I bought it. I just thought it was for the Hong Kong market. I suppose the fact that I got it for 3p should have told me something... The titles on the back cover are mispelled... "U're Got Look" and things like that. I'm glad I didn't pay mega-bucks for this because the concert really is shite.

Eau De Toilette - Versace, L'Homme
£19.99

My favourite scent. It smells like Christmas Cake. I always buy ex-demonstration bottles from Ebay. This would have cost me £45.00 from a store. It's never been used or anything - it just didn't have a box.

Laserdisc - Prince: Lovesexy Live
£7.93

Again, I haven't seen this yet. I only ever had the "Lovesexy" part of the show on VHS... I was certain that I was buying a VCD but I guess I'm a bit stupid. I did buy the other laserdisc intentionally and I found a company in Manchester which said they'd convert it to me to DVD for £25.00. Now I had TWO laserdiscs and I was facing a £50.00 to get them both converted...

Laserdisc Player - Phillips VP-380
£10.88

I hope to God this works. It hasn't arrived yet. It appears to have a start and stop button so I'm not too bothered that there's no remote control with it. My parents are buying me a DVD Recorder for X-Mas, so I'll be messing with wires and stuff on X-Mas day, converting laserdiscs.

CD Album - Doves: Lost Sides (Original 2000 Promo)
£21.19

Yeah, the only item I think I've overspent on. However, only 800 of these exist in the world and as of now, I own one. It's a different configuration than the officially released 2003 version. I've seen this go for over £120.00 on Ebay. So maybe it was a bargain.

Well the laserdisc player I bought for £10.88 works! It just arrived twenty minutes ago.

It's a good job I was off ill really or I would have had to pick it up from the local depot. It's huge.
