My boyfriends ghetto apartment

The other day my boyfriend moved to an apartment building in Southfield....a suburb of Detroit. I thought the apartment was going to be really nice because I found the listing in one of those apartment books you see in the grocery stores sad Anyway, the apartment itself is nice, but the building is....GHETTO.

My boyfriend saw a guy he's known for years....He is now living in the same building....and the guy says, "This isn't a good building. A lot of drug dealing. They have shootouts on the side of the building!!" eek Also, the manager said they had just done mass evictions! The worst part is all of the peoples belongings are sitting outside of the building! I looked down from the balcony and people were going through everyones belongings.....I thought I was in the projects for a moment!

To make matters worse, there is a Kroger grocery store right around the corner from the building....and when tenants go grocery shopping, they bring the grocery baskets back to the building with them! When I left this morning, there were 3 grocery baskets in the hallway! confused

He's my boyfriend, so I guess I have to support his decision to temporarily live there, but.....Jeez, that place is horrible neutral

Just thought I'd share wink

Well, actually that happened at the second building. There are two buildings and my boyfriend is living in the first. We were told that the first building has more older, mature tenants. The second building has the younger folks and apparently some of them got to fighting and a girl was thrown out of the window. Not sure from which floor, not that it matters neutral

The buildings remind you of a college residence hall....Unfortunately, we are both past the college years and don't find any of the antics funny or cool.

Oh dear. I've done that once. My gas meter took tokens and I couldn't afford to buy any. My cooker is electric, so I opened the oven door and turned it up full blast.

I've also opened the fridge door so I could make a cup of tea in the middle of the night, because I didn't have ny money to buy a lightbulb for the ceiling light-fitting. I had to use the light from the open fridge to see what I was doing.

9 mile and Greenfield

When we were looking for apartments, we thought the smartest thing to do would be to go with a place that has free heat. The rent at this place isn't bad, I think it's $590 for a 1 bedroom.
