a few months ago, i wrote a letter to the KC chiefs, and sent it through their website. it was about my son and how wonderful he had done in school, how proud i was of him, and that for christmas i would love to do something out of the ordinary for him, perhaps get to meet some players, get an autograph, a picture with them, something like that. anyway, i sent it in twice, no answer. turns out, a VERY VERY well known player from that team was in our area doing a booksigning about 2 weeks ago. i took my son there to meet him, we bought a book and got it signed. i ended up giving the letter to the man and just asking him to read it... 3 days later, just after i got off the phone with PK, the phone rang, i thought it was her, and i was gonna say something smart when i answered it, but, it was that player on my phone !!!!! he asked for me, we joked around and talked for about 15 minutes, he said he came from a single mom house too, and that my letter touched him, said he had somethings he was working on for us, and if it was ok to call me back in about a week. i of course said SURE !! he said great, and we hung up.

the deal is, he hasnt called back, and i am leaving town in 11 days.... i surely hope he calls... im VERY glad i didnt tell my son, it would break his heart to know that he didnt call back. oh, and the guy, he called from his cell phone... the number came up on my phone, i have his number - how crazy is that ?????

anywho, do you think that a pro football player would make a call like that if he wasnt gonna go through with it ? or, should i just be patient and keep believing ? any ideas ?

Whatever he may have been working on coulda fell through. I'd wait a few more days...but don't hold your breath.

Be patient and don't tell your son. If it comes through you will have been able to help deliver something wonderful and fantastic but if it doesn't come through you won't hurt your son. Don't impose, just be patient and wait.

i can see how it would not look good if you called the guy from that number - but call the office, retell your story to whomever answers and ask for a reply phone call please!

hope it works, but of course you can never trust that those things are going to come through for you.

That is really nice. But be patient. Im sure the guy is busy if he's doing book signings and whatever he's working might take time.

Wow, your wish for your son's Christmas gift really touches me. You sound like a very loving and wonderful mom.

I believe you should be a little more patient. Afterall,....it's not Christmas yet,...so he is probably taking his time planning someting wonderful with the team. I mean, that is what I HOPE But no self-respecting grown man would pull a stund like that on a woman. And he called YOU.... to ask you if it was okay to call BACK in a week? That is just decent. I really would just trust this man's kindness... Just promise us to tell us all about it if he does come up with a nice Christmasgift for your son.

and, yes, the phone call was great, made me feel really special for that lil moment in time

but, that thing about men ?? no self-respecting man ??? maybe i need to meet other men, but, im kinda used to men lying thats the reason i didnt tell my son about the call, it would just crush him to know he didnt call back...
