My Thai is in this long transition, since I passed the stage where people would say 'put Thai geng!', and entered the stage where I now hear 'put Thai mai geng!', which I guess means I think I can speak Thai but the sound that comes out of my mouth is unintelligble. Speaking Thai is like my pool game, peaking at two beers then going rapidly downhill.

You must have reached a plateau. Expectations are raised once u can converse and all of a sudden your tones have to be spot on too. Thais and their tones

I played pool at a bar in Sukumvit last week (I was in Thailand for work then holiday), and the member of staff who broke pocketed all the balls before I got a single shot in. That's no fun.
