Guess who's going to Minneapolis? I got a Dow Jones newspaper internship, and they offered me a position at the Star Tribune this summer as a sports copy editing intern.
So... what do y'all know about the city, besides the obvious, of course?

It's fun! It feels like a big city while still being welcoming. If it were as close to an ocean as my city is, I'd consider moving there.

It's boring as fuck IMO, but for midwest standards it's quite exciting.

I can see that. If you've been experiencing NY, Chicago, Detroit, you may be bored. I prefer big cities in the South! That's just me though

I've been to New York, Chicago, LA, San Francisco, New Orleans, London, Paris, Rome, Amsterdam, etc. and while I've loved all of the above mentioned cities, I've always thought that no matter where I travel, I will likely always come back to Minneapolis. I love it here. If you find Mpls boring, well, fine, but likely you didn't look for much to do. |

I've found there is an incredible indi rock scene there...excellent, but not all the way my bag. But if I want to hear some hard core Reggae and Dance Hall...Nothing like Brooklyn, NY! Gimme that air horn!!! More Fiyah More Fiyah!! I like the South for the folk...not as uptight. With the exeception of org MPLS residents, I find the locals uptight. But then again...I'm a goof and loud. Trust, I'm from the Midwest and I know that folks are generally uptight. I have the most fun in ATL...you just have to merge the old south good ol boys with that incredible Hip Hop scene

Though, I'd say these days we do have a growing hip hop scene (what with Almosphere and whatnot) and the indie rock scene seems to be fading, at least a little. But it could just be I don't go to shows like I did when I was younger. As for the south, I agree, I love the attitude down there! I've contemplated moving to New Orleans more than a few times and I really liked Atlanta. |
