Use my well-worn line:

"Sorry, I can't afford it. Hope you all have a great time, see you at work on Monday"

(then under my breath.."...you bunch of c*nts")

Nah, it was a wink, silly. I think if someone really did throw a brick at my head, most of the people who know me wouldn't notice for a week. (Let's just say "Elephant" and "man" spring to mind....)

One word to explain this unusual phenomenon:

ENGLAND

Many English companies are so tight fisted they begrudge their staff a decent reward for their hard work at Christmas.

I'm lucky, we get all expenses paid night out with a decent meal and drinks, even our cab fare home. We are a very very small company and our bosses know how to look after us and make us feel valued. But they are the exception to the rule over here.

It's called the National Health Service, I don't think people would be happy if Government health money went on Piss ups for all the doctors and nurses lol I think they could do a bit more for getting the drug companies to subsidise them a bit more though.

Ours is being paid for but if we miss it you have to pay for your meal. Seems a bit harsh if you are involved in an accident prehand.
