My new Avatar is shameless plug for... my roommate's band...
Three of the guy's in SPARTA were formally in the band "At The Drive-In." ATDI were hailed as the next Nirvana but after almost 8 years together they called it quits on the eve of their very promising future. The band split into two SPARTA and THE MARS VOLTA. Any fans of these great bands out there? Yes it's a swan. It from the latest album called "PORCELAIN" which features several songs with a full string section conducted by non other Susie Katayama. Most hardcore Prince freaks will know that he worked with her on various songs including the strings on Raspberry Beret and Purple Rain. I was actually in the studio (Sunset Sound in Hollywood) when the strings were being recorded and I had a long happy conversation with Susie about Prince. She told some funny stories about how Prince kicked her ass playing basketball outside the studio. I'm intrigued by "next Nirvana" and "full string section". http://elmadartista.tumblr.com/ http://twitter.com/madartista | |
