Well, I'm still gonna see it regardless of how many horrible reviews I read. Maybe Keenen can work his Good Burger magic in this one. dancing jig

there are no words for my disgust disbelief

I mean my babysitter is 14 and she is sooo excited about this movie, so I guess its being done to appeal to a younger generation maybe, the rest of us grew up around the cartoon so its harder to swallow, same thing with the new willy wonka

shrug

yeah, Willy Wonka was a masterpiece to me, so I dont understand why they're remakin' it either. I don't care if Johnny Depp's in it....I still say "no, thanks".

A friend of mine told me that Cosby is executive producing. We at least know where to point the finger! smile

oh, great. so fat albert's going to have a 45-minute monologue in the middle of the movie about how kids today are becoming illiterate and pregnant because of the hip-hop? rolleyes

I'm sure this movie won't help matters...because no one will see it. Think about it? Fans of it are saying it's a joke, it's a kids movie (by the makers of the "Cheaper By the Dozen" remake and while that made lots of money, I don't think that many people stuck around to by a DVD of it, certaintly no one over 10). THis movie will tank hard! Kids just aren't interested in their parent's favorite programmers being made into movies...and badly!

You know... it may have a really good script that stays true to the character of Fat Albert.

Give it a chance, at least they got his costume correct!

fatalbert

Cute, but this film just illustrates my argument that getting the costume right isn't the most important thing. If you take one look at the trailer, you'll see how lame this flick is going to be. Fat Albert and his gang come OUT OF THE TV AND GET TRAPPED IN THE REAL WORLD! How frigging lame is that?? Didn't they learn their lesson from The Last Action Hero???

Oh, and word is, the script is waaaaay worse than Garfield

Waaaaay worse than "Garfield"? That's something to be proud of.

Bill is getting older, but it's not as though this is his first box office misstep. Does anyone else remember "The Devil & Max Devlin", "Leonard Part 6" or "Ghost Dad"? He was much younger then -- all those films were released in the 80's.

This movie does not look good to me at all -- and if the previews are highlighting the best aspects of the film, then fuggedaboutit.

That said, I would love to know more about Forest Whitaker's ideas regarding the direction of this film...

"Leonard Part 6" and "Ghost Dad" aren't just bombs....the were bombs that were merciously laughed at for years after the fact. Remember? Thankfully, people forgot about them now. But "Hey, hey, hey, it's Fat Albert"!

I don't understand that either. It really came as surprise to me that this got done so quickly. Johnny Deep is really liking that money (I'm nearly certain he is doing another "Pirates OTC") but then again, never underestimate Tim Burton. It could be good. I like the fact that they call it "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"...that why they don't have to call it "Willy Wonka...."(2005) on IMDB or in reviews or anything. I don't think I'm going to see it in a theather, but it looks like it is worth the price of a rental. I'd see it before I'd see "Fat Albert".

I liked "Ghost Dad" redface lol But I haven't seen since I was little, so now I'm probably able to see all things wrong with it.

It might have been good (I think I tried to watch...and failed!) but it sure did tank, as did "Leonard Part 6". I remember one show would notiriously goof on "Leonard Part 6" but I can't remember which one. Maybe it was a lot of them. That's going to be bug me. Can any TV/media freaks like myself help me with this?
