No need to leave Indiana for that... according to the US Census Bureau, Indianapolis is the 12th largest city in the country. (Source: http://www.citymayors.com...s_100.html) To be sure, most of Indianapolis feels like one big suburb. I now live in Seattle, which is smaller than Indianapolis, but Seattle feels more urban (despite ranking only 24th). Still, look at downtown Indianapolis. It has some affordable housing options, despite being the current "hot" part of town, and you can have an urban lifestyle there. Just this past weekend I flew into Indianapolis, and I enjoyed looking out the window, seeing the familiar skyline, and spotting the high-rise apartment building where I spent my final months in that city.
