MY FAVOURITE MAGAZINES! For years now I have been a regular Interview buyer. The magazine covers borad subjects not getting coverage in most other mags.
Their hook is that they let artists interview artists. Like Patrick Fugit being interviewed by actor and fellow colleague in Almost Famous Billy Crudup. Sometimes it gets boring interviews, but other times you get indepth interviews that could never have come into excistence withoutt hat special input. Then since having lived in Paris new addition Entertainment Weekly, which I just love to be hipped to the television series that will air in Holland a year later. Just to stay in touch with televison series and movies. Love it! Also since Paris; Flaunt, a metrosexual magazine that I just looooove cuz they are ALWAYS ahead with whatever they are hipping, from fashion to music. On the beat. And every month they have a specially commisioned cover, often a reworking of the picture of the person they have on their 'inside' cover... Outside cover Inside Cover [IMG][/IMG]

CRUDUP: So, have you ever left your girlfriend for another woman when she was seven-months-pregnant with your child? If not, I'd highly recommend it. FUGIT: Uh, not yet. Entertainment Weekly
Love EW (although I haven't picked it up in a while). Flaunt
This is, like, my ex's favourite mag. She showed it to me a couple times and it looks really cool.

I subscribed to Interview for a long time, but I haven't seen it now for several years. I like Vanity Fair, EW, Details, and Out. Those are my regular readings. http://elmadartista.tumblr.com/ http://twitter.com/madartista

I used to subscribe to Interview too, but it started to arrive later and later each month. Then they got rid of the spine and downsized it a little. The paper it was printed on got thinner too. It just started to look like any other magazine and it began to get difficult to discern where the adverts ended and the features began.
The same thing happened with The Face magazine... It started to become reactionary rather than actually setting the trends. The only magazine I still buy on a regular basis is Attitude. It's not exactly brain-surgery though. I can read it in a single 45 minute sitting. I've bought other pop-culture magazines like *wallpaper, Dazed & Confused etc, but I find them all to be completely pretentious and humourless.

Remember how big it was? I loved it then. It was huge and the paper was really thick. You could cut out pages and frame them and you couldn't see the print coming through the other side of the page because the paper was that thick. Do you remember the issue which had Liza on the cover in black & white, with the Interview logo in orange? There was a huge near life-sized photo of her from 'Cabaret' on one page. That image was on my bedroom wall for years. The pair-ups were more entertaining and wacky. Like Martha Stewart cooking a barbecue for New Order. Now it just seems to be one robo-liberal Hollywood starlet interviewing another robo-liberal Hollywood starlet. I'm not anti-liberal. I mean, I'm liberal. Just not a robo-liberal, if you know what I mean.

The first issue I remember buying had Madonna on the cover, with a bunch of Herb Ritts photos. Exquisite! Around that time there was a 3 or page spread on Prince, with some great photos, and the lyrics to S-E-X in his handwriting. I had those on my dorm wall. I really don't think I've even seen it since about 2000. That's when I stopped subscribing. http://elmadartista.tumblr.com/ http://twitter.com/madartista

i used to be a Q magazine addict but i think the quality's kinda gone to crap the past year or so, so i only get it when there's stuff on the cover that really interests me. "bust" and "bitch" magazines are two girl magazines that i used to really enjoy because it was just good writing on interesting topics...but i've kinda cooled on both of those over the past year.
my favorite rags right now are The Believer and the New Yorker.
