euphemism and dysphemism Hello everyone,
Last Friday I had to give my first language (Dutch) course for a bunch of teenagers (15 y old boys). The topic was 'the diary'. In my next lesson, tomorrow, I will analyze two articles with them, in orde to discuss some topics with them like subjectivity vs. objectivity, fact vs. opinion. Right now I'm preparing my lesson on Wednesday, which will be on euphemisms and dysfemisms. You know, those words that state thing in a more hidden or explicit, harmful way. So my question is; do you know any good ones? This lesson will be in Dutch, so the Dutch ones will be the most helpful (e.g. volslank - dik - vet). But you can give me English examples as well, maybe they can lead me to similar Dutch expressions...

I don't want to teach, I want to be taught for a change. Teach me!

I will Faux, or I would. It's only so much easier in my own language. Is this 'shy' or 'self-conscious'?
