Anger...(updated)

Do you feel you have a problem with anger? Do you think you become angry quickly??...Too quickly??...Or does it take a LOT to anger you??

Once you are angry, does it take a long time for you to stop being angry??...Or are you able to "forgive and forget" with relative ease? Do you hold grudges for a long time??

When's the last time you've been in a fist fight?...As an adult, have you ever been angry enough to become violent, even if just for a moment?? If so, what caused it??...Were you able to calm yourself enough to stop yourself?

They say that anger isn't a real emotion, but rather a mask...that anger is used to cover up the true emotion(s) we're feeling: fear, insecurity, hurt...when we feel these types of emotions we express them by using anger. Do you believe that to be true??...

Wanna share??... smile

I don't tend to get all that angry anymore.

I used to have a hard time letting things go and I'd dwell on it for a while.

Now I just see that being angry really isn't worth it in many cases.

Better to channel that into something creative.

I don't get angry quickly...but, I am empassioned quickly when something touches a subject I feel strongly about.
I've never been in a fist fight...and while I do forgive...I never forget.

I don't really get angry.....My sisters tell me that I am very serene.

If I do get angry, something has driven me over the edge. No fights as an adult.

I like to resolve the situation right away..

I have have a magnet that says:

"Don't go to bed mad, stay up and fight, fight, fight"..

I believe that to much anger can manifest itself into diseases.

I've never been in a fistfight. I had one yelling match with a boyfriend in 1998, and a yelling match with my last boss in September -- the only time I've ever exploded that way in a work environment. My problem with anger is suppressing it. The work I've done with an acting coach who uses a spiritual, life based technique for acting has really helped me deal with all of my emotions and to really feel them. That, and studying Kabbalah. After I got fired, I went and asked the company for a severance package, and explained why I deserve it. I'm still negotiating with them about it, but me standing up for myself and asking for what I want is HUGE for me. And it feels good.

It takes ALOT to get me angry...really. Oh, I'll make the face. But most things are forgotten within the hour.

I can say I hardly ever get mad.

I have a lot of anger in me still nod it comes out in funny ways, too...

The angriest "stage" I've ever been through was late 1997 through to late 1998...in late 1997 Mum and my stepdad split which REALLY upset me (way more than when Dad and Mum split when I was 5) because I'm really close to him still. Mum was having an affair with this - ahem, and this is a nice way of describing this thing, truly - asshole, and she wouldn't admit it. My brother and I were really really angry with her and speaking for myself only it's the closest I've ever been to losing all respect for her. One of her closest friends actually sat her down one day and said to her "Gail wake up - you're going to lose your kids if you keep going like this, along with many others" and it was enough for Mum to "wake up" coz it's the closest she ever came to really, honestly losing us...I regret this now but I spent 5 weeks at my Dad and Stepmum's just absolutely trashing her sad and THEY were sticking up for her, tho, and making me see that everyone makes mistakes. Having said that, tho, I found out later the story behind Mum and Dad's split - she asked him to stay in a hotel for a week while she chose between him and this other asshole (and THIS asshole used to mistreat me and my brother Sol)...My Dad told me all this, tho, so it's just one side of a story that has two sides, ya know?

anyway, this asshole Neville who Mum cheated on Kev with basically started stalking and harrassing Mum and our family when she broke it off with him...he keyed a friend's Honda and used to sneak up to the house and if we were all out on the porch (which was elevated high off the ground) he'd stand there listening to our conversations - we knew this because neighbours used to tell us that, and that he used to drive around all the time checking if anyone was home. He made my Mum's last few months alive a nightmare and I still hold much anger towards him - if I ever saw him in real life again I swear it'd be the closest I'd come to real violence

...and that's all apart from childhood issues with my Dad and other things... lol YES I HAVE ISSUES confused

redface I just realised I ranted but didn't really answer your questions, Byron...sorry redface

I don't get angry very often, but if I get angry it is reasonably quickly yes...I'll admit to holding a grudge too if someone or something has really hurt me or made me angry redface that's something I try and check myself with

I've haven't been in a physical fight since I was little with my brother...

Generally, I'm not an angry person. However... I do tend to let things fester until I blow up.

And, I tend to believe that anger stems from something deeper, or rather another emotion. Is "disbelief" an emotion?

OMG Im the same way! lol. I have to admit though, it's very rewarding, not to mention humorous, to see the look of shock and terror on people's faces when I finally flip out on them.

Anger is definately an emotion, you cant really stop it, only learn to control it. It is such an instant reaction it has to be emotion.

I dont get angry very often at all and i cant stay angry long. I've never lost control due to anger but I feel how dangerous it can be.

I havn't had a fist fight for about 7 years and that was protecting someone else.

Stupid question! mad

I am not at all quick to anger and do not hold a grudge. It causes way more harm to oneself then it could ever be good. Vaya con Dios say I!

I once hated someone with every fiber of my being. They were a horrid insecure bully (very long story) long to short I lost a child during that period of time and fully agree with Sag... I believe the humanbody is at risk for many diseases where stress, anger and or grudges are present. Man it took me years to rebuild my character after that. It was the single worse decision
I EVER made. What that emotion did to me is unbelievable. What it did to the one who was cruel? Nada...zip....zero!

I was foolish to want retribution. The misery she lived in everyday was her reward. In all truth I don't even wish that for her.
Long to even longer and remaining vague for times sake, We all ultimately want for the same things... To be loved and accepted and at that, accepted for whom we are. To be known.
