I was told that I needed to write this story about anything for the gift exchange for Christmas. Me? I know, right? Aunt Connie clearly wasn't in her right mind when choosing me.

So, I sat down to write this thing and realized that I'd left my pen in the kitchen, right next to the sink. When I went to reach for it, it rolled right into the sink and right down into the garbage disposal. I retrieved my pen from the disposal and returned to the bedroom to write this fantastic story that I had in mind, but my notebook wasn't where I'd left it!

I yelled out into the living room, where Haley was, and asked her if she'd seen my notebook. "Isn't it right where you'd left it?!", she yelled back. I couldn't hear her because she wasn't yelling loudly enough and both of us were too lazy to come to one another and speak, so I yelled, "What!?" She yelled back, slightly louder this time so that I could hear her, "Isn't it right where you'd left it!? Right there on the bed?" "No", I replied, it wasn't where I'd left it. She said that perhaps Colin had taken it in his bedroom, So I walked into his bedroom to take a look around.

Upon entering I was appalled to see that Colin's bed was left unmade! Not only that, but I turned to find that Haley's bed was also left unmade! Who were these children!? Aliens must have come in and taken my children and left behind these two clones! After making their beds, I turned to leave only to see that left of the television and a little left of the lamp, was an empty Pop Tart wrapper! Yes, right there on the floor, to the left of the television and a little left of the lamp and even left of the Yhatzee game with the dice all over the floor next to it, was an empty Pop Tart wrapper! I took an immediate left, right out of the room and threw it right into the trash!

I wanted to know what had happened to my tidy children and who these clones were that were left behind in their place, but there were more important things to do like find my notebook that I'd thought I'd left on my bed so that I could sit and write this story that I was somehow nominated to write.

I found Colin sitting on the couch playing video games. I asked him if he'd seen my notebook and explained to him that I really needed to find it so that I could write this fantastic story of mine for the Christmas Party. He said that I should look where I'd last left it. I said, "Right, I know that. The problem is, Colin, that it isn't right where I'd left it. And, who left the empty Pop Tart wrapper in your room?" He claimed he didn't know, but I insisted on showing him where the trash was. So, we turned right into the dining room, took another right into the kitchen and I opened the cabinet under the sink and pointed right to the trash can and said, "Trash goes right in there", and we left.

Anyway, I took a couple of lefts and walked down the hall to my bedroom, determined to find this notebook so that I could concentrate on writing this story that needed to get done. It wasn't anywhere. I looked high and low and finally decided to not worry about it and went to the laundry room to switch the clothes. Right there, to the right of the dryer and to the left of the wall, on top of the washing machine, was my notebook! Realizing that the kids were right, that it was, in fact, where I'd last left it! I then looked to the left and saw that I had about three more loads of laundry left to do and that realization kinda zapped me of any energy that I had left for writing this story.

So, my apologies, family, I cannot write the story this year. I wanted to write it, I had many interesting things to write about, and was very excited to sit down and write away. I hope this has not left you too terribly sad.

P.S. If you have misplaced something, it usually is exactly where you'd last left it.

Don't worry. When you do this kind of activity nobody actually listens to the story. Once they get into how it works their focus is completely drawn to picking out the 'lefts' and 'rights'. Trust Faux, I'm a teacher. smile

Just rip a story from there and change it a little, and don't worry unduly about it.
