I rented the subtitled Japanese version of the Grudge 2 cuz I wanted 2 know was they going to live up 2 the original ( i ahve only seen the American version). And while it was ok and still kinda scary, it wasn't that exciting, still weird and all, but they story unfolded even more (and the father is alive in this one) which kinda sheds away the horror.

Whatever the American version is captuing I hope they really try to fix it to still make it as effective as the first one...because it was just a little boring.
