Sentencing is on January 31. Theft of a dwelling is a felony with a maximum sentence of 12 years.

No, but they did find an least one other item from a previous burglary. Unfortunately there was enough evidence to try him on that case. The police and D.A. konw this guy is a sexual predator, but none of that could be brought up in trial. I couldn't say that that was what I suspected. Fortunately, I CAN bring it up when I go to the sentencing hearing.

about damn time someone gets their stuff back from a robbery and the jerk gets caught. i've known too many people - including myself - who just have to deal with the fact that we got robbed and that's that. i'm happy you got this closure.

Correct. Sorry I missed your earlier post. This happened back in April. There was a guy standing over my bed at 4:00 in the morning waving a flashlight over my eyes to wake me up. My gut told me he was there looking for a woman, and robbery wasn't his only motive. The police responded quickly and confirmed a series of sexual assaults and burglaries had taken place in my neighborhood. Anyway, they followed his footprints in the snow, and found him about 5 blocks away. With my camera and keys in his possession.

I found out today he's been in jail since that day. I never asked before, because when I was living here, I didn't want to know if he was free. In my mind he was in jail, and I didn't want to know if that wasn't the case.

Oh sweet!!! This is great to hear!!! As someone who has been victimized by theft, its good to hear a story where the guilty get punished.

Now, will he also be tried for the sexual assaults?? Hope they through the book at the bastich!!
