"Yage" -anybody?

smile

I was wondering if anyone here ever tried Yage?

And if so, what were your experiences with it??

Is it really like a portal to another world, as
has been mentioned before.

Some of the experiences of people taking it have
been described as very similar to a near-death
experience.

Not saying I'd ever take it, fcuz but I am always
curious to learn.

i had no idea what this was ( kinda ) til i looked it up ...

so for those that dont know too

This brew, also called yage, or yaje, in Colombia, ayahuasca in Ecuador and Peru (Inca "vine of the dead, vine of the souls," aya means in Quechua "spirit," "ancestor," "dead person," while huasca means "vine," "rope") caapi in Brazil, is prepared from segments of the vine Banisteriopsis Caapi. Sections of vine are boiled with leaves from any of a large number of potential admixture plants (such as but not limited to; Psychotria viridis or Diplopterys cabrerana) resulting in a brew that contains the powerful hallucinogenic alkaloids harmaline, harmine, d-tetrahydroharmine, and often N,N-dimethyltryptamine.
This medicine has been used for millennia in order to enter the sacred supernatural world, to heal, divine, and worship

i have never tried exactly THAT ... interesting

i am going to look up its shamanic uses ...

biggrin

I don't know what it is with these "ancient" forms of drugs, but somehow
they just interest me. I like to read and learn about them and perhaps I
would even like to try some in a 'natural' environment.

I would never take something like Yage in a fourth floor appartment in a
city. The only place to take shit like that would be right at the source
with the people that use it for shamanic purposes.

Now that would be a trip and a half.

Somehow the idea of rolling around in mud, being painted with blood and
sprinkled with urine with feathers in my hair and nut-chains on my feet
dancing myself into a trance appeals to me greatly

smile

I would do it in my back garden but I think the neighbours would call
the cops on me.

sad

I read "The Yage Letters" by William Burroughs. Sounds like it's quite the substance...

Funny enough William Burroughs is what got me thinking about Yage again.
I'd heard about it before but forgot all about it and never explored it
in depth.

Then I finished "Junky" a while ago and he mentions "Yage" at the last
page of the book. So that got me thinking about it again.

Morning Glory seeds dont work. My friend and I tried them. We went to KMart and bought a pouch for each of us, and ate them like grape nuts, and they tasted like shit. We both got upset stomachs.

There's also another plant(or plant root?) called Ibogaine, that is supposed to cause you to flip out. However, it's also believed to relieve cocaine addictions as well tho.

Most comercial seeds are sprayed with some what not that is good for growing plants, but bad for eating
