A while back Isaac Mizrahi had some chef on his show making comfort foods, and one of the recipes was Mac and Cheese. I tried it out and it came out great...
Eileen's Recipe: Baked Macaroni & Cheese Ingredients: 1 lb. macaroni (cooked) 2 cups white sauce* 2 cups yellow cheddar 2 cups Muenster cheese White Sauce: 2 cups heavy cream 2 cups milk 8 tablespoons butter 6 tablespoons flour Heat the milk and cream together to a boil. Melt butter in saucepan. When melted, add all the flour, stirring constantly. Let cook for 4 to 5 minutes, continuing to stir. Remove from heat, and add warm milk and cream while whisking -- if sauce is too thick, add a touch more milk. Add cheese to white sauce and stir. (Save a bit of cheese for the topping.) Stir sauce into macaroni and place in a buttered casserole dish. Place in 350-degree oven until slightly brown and bubbly on top -- 25 to 30 minutes. | |

Macaroni and cheese is one of my favorite dishes. But I don't like to cook, so I can't offer any recipes. I can, however, make the following "awards":
Winner, Frozen Macaroni and Cheese: Howard Johnson's. Unfortunately, I've been able to find it only in New England. It is, however, the same recipe used by the once-mighty Howard Johnson's restaurant chain, which still has ten locations, so if you're lucky enough to live near one of the few remaining HoJo's restaurants, you can enjoy it there. In 2001, I went out of my way during a two-day roadtrip to visit the HoJo's restaurant in White Haven, Pennsylvania (which is sadly no longer a HoJo's) to do just that. Runner-Up, Frozen Macaroni and Cheese: Stouffer's. Unlike HoJo's, it's available nationwide. Winner, Non-Frozen Boxed Macaroni and Cheese: Kraft Deluxe, Sharp Cheddar flavor Winner, Non-Frozen Boxed Macaroni and Cheese with a "Twist": Velveeta Shells & Cheese, Salsa flavor Please note: effective March 21, 2010, I've stepped down from my prince.org Moderator position. |

HELOOOOO???!!!
No one even mentioned eggs here!!!!! Okay, here's my mac-n-cheese: Ingredients 1/2-pound box Cremette brand Macaroni 1/2 blocks of these three cheeses (shredded): colby mild cheddar & sharp cheddar 1/3 cup of milk 2 eggs butter/margarine salt & pepper Preheat oven to 375 F. Okay, shred and combine the three cheeses a bowl. In a medium-sized pot, boil about 3 cups of water, stir in macaroni. Stir and boil till tender, then sift macaroni. Return to pot, and add 1 tsp of salt, about two Tbsp of butter or margarine and stir until dissolved. In a separate bowl, combine eggs, milk and 1 tsp each of salt & pepper. In a non-greased, rectangular baking pan/pyrex bowl/whatever, spread a "layer" of the macaroni in the bottom of the pan, then srinkle a layer of cheese. Empty the rest ofthe macaroni into the pan, spreading the layer evenly. Then, pour and equally distribute the egg-milk mixture into the macaroni. Sprinkle last layer of cheese atop the macaroni (top layer), remember to distribute equally. Bake for 45 min to 1 hour. Let cool. Enjoy. They did WHAT??!....
