It doens't mean that when ppl get worked up over some dolphines that they're not concerned abt human welfare neutral

Just ironic they don't talk about it. Hell, I bet most people on this thread eat meat.

I'd also like to know when the last time was people on this thread donated money to PETA or another similar organisation. Ya betta check yo'self!

My thoughts on the above:

1. I think people who get worked up over dolphins are the same who get worked up over any cruelty, including other forms of animal cruelty and child cruelty. Certainly, if things are going to change in this world it will only happen if people care enough to discuss these things and make changes to their own lifestyles.

2. I don't eat meat.

3. I have written to many supermarkets, organisations and governments who support various practices which I am against to state my viewpoint. Many of them don't even bother to respond, e.g. the government of the Faroe Islands, the British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, but I have had some success with Members of the European Parliament, some of whom have corresponded with me over the years. Also, my own MP has been very sympathetic. Politicians, in particular, are supposed to represent their constituencies ... if you feel strongly about a particular subject, you should write to them - at the end of the day, they're interested in gaining votes and so it's important to lobby.

I'd also like to know when the last time was people on this thread donated money to PETA or another similar organisation. Ya betta check yo'self!

4. Again, I can't speak for anyone else, but there are lots of causes I do support on a monthly basis, all animal-related charities. In addition to that, I also donate a percentage of my income ... if you wanna know details I will orgnote you ... to charity (usually non-animal related, usually children).

Now I feel an idiot, because I feel like I'm blowing my own trumpet a little with what I've typed. But I just wanted to make the point that threads like these on any discussion board do hit a nerve with me, and I do think they're important. Collectively we need to get upset and angry about situations to make a difference in the world. Any medium which brings subjects like this to the fore is important .... and it's only important so long as those of you who are offended or angry actually do something about it - tell your friends, write to countries, governments or organisations who support practices you abhor, and to organisations who support causes you agree with to either volunteer or congratulate their efforts.
