#1 at the box office - how do they know already??? just was thinkin ....
ok ... its sunday ... around 4:00 here .. yet ...just saw a blurb on Yahoo news that "national treasure" was no 1 again for this week ... it says "for the three days starting on friday " ... hmmm... how the ____ do they do that ???? its not even sunday night yet !!?????

Sweeny said she saw it...and that it sucked horrendously...
And I think they "know" because they do an estimate based on what Friday and Saturday's total take is...they know how much ticket sales drop off (or rise) on Sunday as compared to Friday and Saturday...so the studios have press releases which give decent estimates as to how much a movie's going to gross over the weekend. Usually they're pretty accurate...occasionally a studio will inflate their numbers just to have a day or two of press in which their movie is ranked higher than it normally would be... | |

Studios have been also known to throw money in the tally out of their pocket just to get that number one weekend gross.
