Any knitters on La Org?

If so, how difficult is it to knit a winter toque (or, as you crazy Americans call it - a "beanie")?

I think an easier alternative is to just find a handmade toilet paper cozy...

It has to be a virtual copy of one of my nieces' hats. For some reason, it was made in this very unusually small sizing.

I'm sure it would be easy to do as long as the person doing it could find the right colors of yarn.

That won't be a problem, but I know no one who knits, so I'm wondering if this is something I could attempt myself. Is knitting, like, a complicated thing?

Um...as long as you learn a basic stich I think you could do something like this pretty easily.

it seems like a straight forward beanie would be an easy project. just do a stitch then spiral around. of couse, i have Z-E-R-O knowledge of knitting. one of my cousins is a speed knitter. she'd probably do a beanie in a couple of hours. 4 real!

What about the whole sewing-it-together thing?

As you do the stich you're essentially stitching it to the other parts that you've already created...so, it's an all-in-one deal. smile

Are we talkin' about the same thing here (the sewing together the panels thing)?

Oh, I didn't know that's the way you wanted to make it. I was thinking of a big coil going around.
I think you just stitch the panels together with the same stich you made them with.

I'll knit you a hat..It might end up looking like a scarf ( I can only knit in a straight line) but you can wrap it around your head like a hat? nobody will ever guess.

Azure knits! (I know cause she sent me a beautiful scarf that she knitted herself.)
violett knits too.

I don't knit myself but lotsa folks are doing it these days, it seems. I feel like one of my knitting friends told me that to make a hat you knit around a round frame to ensure the proper sizing or something like that. To me, knitting seems easy to learn, but difficult to master and do really well.

This is all starting to sound like it would involve effort (which is something I generally don't enjoy). Couldn't I just pay one of you guys to make it for me? batting eyes

While the toque I describe has no pom-pom, is much smaller in size and infinitely more stylish than those pictured above, I do heartily endorse the perpetuating of Canadian stereotypes, so let me just say "Pass me a brew, eh? And shut-up, hoser!" biggrin canada
