Pee-wee's playhouse on DVD

I used to love this show and think it will be a good gift for my son (who was a toddler in the late 80's). Anyone seen this yet? (I'm hestating beacause maybe 45 episodes is a bit much.)

well, it's offered in two volumes - you should get the first volume and see how your son likes it. if he digs it, then you can get him the second volume for some other occasion, ya know?

i think the show was brilliant - the humor was very silly and over the top, but there was a lot in it that was very subtle and sly, too. you might end up enjoying it more than your son! lol

I have to add that Season one (1st half of Box 1) is OK. The really crazy stuff comes about after the first season...where they are still getting their bearings for the show.

ANd by the way...as a Teen I HATED this show vehemently. I used to baby sit 3 boys aged 6 - 9 and I'd have to be at the house early...I would still be sorta sleepy when they'd watch saturday morning cartoons. Let's just say that they figured out the Babysitter hated the word of the day. Damn little beasts.

when i was in high school, i'd get up at 8:30am every saturday to watch pee-wee's playhouse.

that's sayin' something, when a teenager will wake up early on saturday when he doesn't need to. lol

i was always fascinated with the music on the show - they were usually scored by the residents, todd rundgren or mark mothersbaugh from devo.

I'm very tempted to get that but before I give that much more consideration, I saw that Hollywood has his Christmas special for rent. I might check that out first. Pee-Wee put on a pretty good show.

I'll definately rent it. Looks like fun eighties nostalgia. I think I've seen it many times before as well.
