OK WHITE PEOPLE - I need to Know this.... .
EVERY SINGLE WHITE FRIEND I have, who has light skin or is of obvious Irish or German background, seems to be completely ashamed of being pale. I mean all of them -- 100%. What I want to know is, what is so wrong with being pale? It's kind of pretty I think.

Who said I'm white? Oh that's right. It's a skin disease like MJ.

Being of German heritage and being VERY pale and married for 10 years to a black man, I am not at all ashamed of my skin color. It is beautiful! I think in most cases, it is a situation of everyone wanting what they do not have such as straight hair wants curly, or whatever. I told my husband when he met me if he wanted to be with a white woman who wanted to be, look or act black, he had met the wrong one. I think all skin colors are beautiful, including my "apricot" one. I'm very fair skined. The Sun and I are NOT the closest of buddies. I actually think tans don't look that good...and fake bakes look worse. Christian Zombie Vampires

Bravo!! But U are a rare breed. I have a friend, I shit U not, who is fine as hell, but she is deadly afraid of showing her legs becuase she's pale. I will admit, I've seen what she looks like after being in the sun and it is strangest pink hue I've ever seen, but being pale just isn't an unatractive feature to me. To her, it's like a curse.

i was 18 years old and had to be tested for military service. i was sitting in my underwear, between a bunch of seminaked guys, nervous as hell.
the most butch and handsome young men next of me shouted to the others when he noticed me: Look at HIM, he is so WHITE, he looks like a bottle of MILK, he's like a LIGHT in the DARK! i was so embarassed... yes SIR!

ummm it's "kind of pretty" you say.that comes off a little patronising to me even though you probably don't mean to be.
i'm pale in the extreme i mean i'm almost see through you can see every vein that runs through my body so i am constantly covering myself in st.tropez just to look more alive

But you're like my pale white friends--you REALLY have to be careful not to offend them about being pale--they are extremely sensative about it.

I know what you mean, I have friends that are like that too....always tanning or wishing they had one. I think white society has put that stigma on itself...not black society. But why? I really want to know? I think it is just people trying to look like the people on tv and media or whatever. They tipically are tan, muscular good looking folks. It is absolutely a white thing. But, like I said, it is like black women straightening their hair, or white women getting a curly perm. People want what they do not have... I'm white by region but I was born with a perma-tan skin tone. I usually prefer my women butt white cuz I just love to see my darkness overlapping their paleness but I can settle for any color. I'm an international lover. To Sir, with Love

Ex-Moderator | I'm a very fair skinned redhead and I adore it. I'm the palest gal I know. Even if I wanted to, I just don't get tan. No biggie. The only thing about it I don't like is being sooooo sensitive to the sun. I wear sunblock year round, at least on my face. If I'm bare shouldered for 15 minutes in the summer sun without it I'm burnt. And, partly cause I'm so fair, I tend to blush rather easily. When I drink beer my face becomes flushed (and sometimes blotchy) fairly quickly, so I tend to avoid it. But as for the overall aesthetic, I can't complain. |

I don't mind being pale. And I saw this tshirt once that I desperately want: "I love pale scrawny guys."

I'm more annoyed by it because it just reminds me that it's been too cold outside to wear bare arms in the sun, or that I that I've been inside too much.
The top of my arm is more pale than the bottom of your arm.

I'm damn near albino white, and the only thing that pisses me off is the bloody freckles - they show through my tattoos, dammit! All orgnotes and emails requesting trades or how to acquire bootleggage will be ignored. - The ThreadKiller -

I'm not ashamed to be pale, but for others it seems a must that one should get tanned. If I get tanned it's after my skin turns red and must be peeled off so no thanks Time flies like an arrow

Not if you fake and bake for minutes over a span of months I had a nice fake tan going on last summer, because I was jealous of the people with free time on their hands to get actual tans.

I just realized I admitted to faking-and-baking, which clearly means I fall into that category AsianBomb speaks of.
