Have you always lived in a village near Bolton?

I, like a few others (I guess) saw a black comedy edge to your sad tale. Because assholes like Bulsey and Sutty live in every single village in the UK. I have to admit if I went back to the village I grew up in I would have the shit kicked out of me in about ten minutes, just for being me. I left home for University and never turned back. Village life in the UK can be so closed minded, cut loose and move even if it's only Manchester. London is great cus everyone is different. Your situation is brilliant; with no mortgage you are free. What about travelling? Of all my friends only one is from high school, and she moved to London too. I don't understand why it is some people change and others are happy to live their little insular lives going round and round and round in a little village with their families and aunts and grandparents, its so old fashioned a breads ignorance. But it sounds like you are a lucky one, this is your signal, get out!

You can outgrow your friends most definitely. You don't have to hate them though, you just have to find new ones with the same interests. Then when you see the old ones every once in a while you can enjoy each others company and have more to talk about. I think it happens to everyone. My girl Jessie was my partner in crime. I'm lucky if I talk to her once a month now. We just have different lives, we still love each other and would do anything for each other just don't hang out as much. It's all good.

Cheer up. This will just push you to make new friends so don't look at it as a terrible thing. hug

Well, yeah - I have no ties and live alone. Rent in City-Centre Manchester is going to be a lot more than the rent here though.

I did make a concerted effort to live and work in London once. I applied for a job at the BBC to work on the Top Of The Pops website. I got down to the final ten and had an interview but I didn't make it. A friend at the time whom worked there told me to "be myself". I did and then he later told me that I didn't get the job because they found me "depressing".

The deputy editor of Attitude magazine offered me work experience once but this was two years ago and it would have been unpaid anyway.

I've never felt like I fit in with gay bars and stuff. I feel out of place. I find their "gayness" suffocating.
