Perhaps because theres some people who are trying to switch over to a vegan/vegetarian lifestyle, but have a hard time doing to because they miss the flavors and textures of meat dishes.

If they are against eating meat why eat veggie BURGERS, Chicken Nuggets, Steaks, Fillets, Mince, Turkey etc etc..

I would think they wouldnt like to be reminded of eating animals/meat...

Now please dont make this a war against meat eaters/non meat eaters.. I would just like to know.. nod

Its always baffled me..

That's kinda like asking why do lesbians play with dildos? I mean, they're shaped like dicks, right? So they may as well be playing with a real dick.

But they have foods called Tofurkey and shit..

Actually, a carnivore is more likely to be eating some shit as part of his or her entree...

Irresistible ... thanks for your comment

Redbaby, I also just wanted to comment on this but forgot to do so in my original post. Chicken nuggets are, well, "nugget" shaped - I'm not quite sure what part of the chicken this is meant to resemble ... sausages aren't exactly meat-shaped either, nor are burgers, and fish don't have fingers. They've all been developed as new ways of eating meat/fish, designed to tempt new buyers.

My point is that it's not just manufacturers of vegetarian foods who try to disguise the food they're producing.

Absolute Genius! thumbs up!

Before i read both of your (and IB's hug) responses I was just going to write For variety Red, as variety tis the spice of life. And to elaborate on IB's point about adaptability, a lot of people (vegetarians included) are not chefs, recipe books are massively biased to a non vegetarians and it is easier to throw in veggie mince to a recipe that is vegetarian except for the mince part and have an easy meal.

On the flipside and as a note, I once conducted a small study on the adaptability of including meat in vegetarian substitute meat recipes to compare them for taste geek

Being a vegetarian i've also been wondering about this
Personally i don't buy anything that looks or tastes like meat
(although it's been about 22 years since it ate
meat , so i don't really remember the taste of it)

A more important question would be - Why would a meat eater choose to consume a big mac? confused

Do you eat meat? If you're a vegetarian/vegan, then fair enough. Otherwise isn't it a little silly to say "Oh, I'll eat cow and pig but not cat and dog!"

Personally, I don't see a difference. I've had countless pets in my lifetime, and currently have 2 dogs and 2 fish. But if I was in a foreign country I wouldn't think twice about at least trying dog or cat if it was offered to me.
