My Uncle Pat, my Godfather actually, is knocking on heaven's door. He needs kidney dialysis and it can't be done any longer. He's been dismissed from the hospital and sent home to wait for death to come. It could be any minute, or it could take a couple of days.

I was born on his 40th birthday. My middle name, Patrick, is in honor of him. I'm flying out of Oakland today to try and see him alive one last time. Fortunately, I saw him last month when I moved my stuff from Colorado. I'd rather remember him like that, but I'd also like to say goodbye, if there is time. On the bright side, he had a full life with 5 kids, several grandchildren, and a loving extended family -- and most all of those people are at his side now. Every time my phone rings today I wonder if it's "the call."

Any hugs and prayers would be greatly appreciated.

I am guessing by your thread that a kidney transplant isn't an option, but if it was/is, your uncle can have one of mine. I don't need two of them. Serious about it too, if it IS an option let me know.

My Nino died last night at 8:20, right as my plane was landing in Denver. Thank you all so much for your love, comfort, and prayers. I appreciate it, and draw strength from it. Thank U.
