Howard Stern

He's an American treasure; and I'm grateful that he's up the FCC's ass everyday lately. (And, yes I know it's largely self promotion, but he's on the right side, as far as I'm concerned.)

BTW, did anyone see him on TV last night?

i have to say ... Howard kinda grows on ya ...

i didnt listen to him ... about 4 yrs ago ... then i did ...

my boss at the time (i spend several hrs a day in a car sometimes) didnt like him (even tho he was from NYC and used to LOVE howard )... so he and I used to "get into it " over Howard on the radio ...

then i grew to like him ...

then after his divorce .. i think ... he wasnt as funny ... (somethin about him being 50 and not married now ... i dont know ... i didnt think he was as funny ) ....

i still listen to him ... but ... i doubt that i like him enough to run out and buy a satelite radio service that u have to pay for .... wink

Well, I tell you, Howard is the Martyr of Radio. He has changed the way we all listen to radio, and now he is on the move again to change the way of Satellite Radio. And if anything raise the bar. Many people hate Howard and what he stands for, and they have the right to feel like that. But for the same reasons that they have the right to hate him, is the same reasons Howard has the right to be who he is, and do what he does. It's called freedom. Freedom which was fought for in many wars and battles in which many lives were lost, so that you and I could express what we want, how we want. And for the FCC to come in and tell people that they can't say or do certain things, well that is just crushing the very freedom for which our countrymen fought and died for. Let's all do our country a service, and stand up against this FCC Nazi regime, and shout out for people's freedom!!!

in general , i agree with you about the freedom thing ....

the problem with freedom is that everyone has a different opinion about freedom ... confused "define : freedom" ... and you will get alot of different answers ...

you cant say that Americans are "more free" when you can't drink until you are 21 ... what 's that all about .... ???? Americans can take a bullet for our country at 18 ---- but not consume alcohol ??? wink

Americans are not "free" if we are not able to "not" pay our taxes ...

you can's say that we are "free" if i can't go outside and piss on the pavement if i want to .... ???? mad

the problem with "freedom" is that there are always "some people " who take it too far ... and alot of people think Howard did that .... ALOT ... Howard's now in that phase of his life --- where every "wild " thing he says ... if he gets bleeped ... then ... oh my ... his ratings just went up thru the roof !!! eek

It's very simple. The difference is that with Howard and all entertainment options, there's an "OFF" switch for you to use. Nobody else is affected.

If you don't pay your taxes, don't expect cops, roads, libraries, etc. in your community - others are affected.

(And if you piss on the ground outside my house, I'll need to hit the "OFF" swich on your dick.)

So many adults are looking for the government to help raise their kids; while others are still looking for a mommy or daddy (or a shrink or a priest) to keep them in line - and they also expect the government to do it. Everyone needs to grow the hell up and do things on their own!

taking that one step furthor .... i was out to lunch the other day with a male colleague ... flippin thru the newspaper sports section --- theres a pic of jenna jameson ... some adult video retail ad ... but he said "see thats whats wrong with america ... this smut ... i cant even read the paper without looking out what my 8 yr old kid is viewing ... " ... i dont agree with him ... of course .. in general ... but most people i think feel that way ... that the media , etc ... they are constantly goin one step furthor .... cool

I understand what you are talking about. However Howard Stern was on during a time of day when kids are supposed to be in school and not listining to the radio anyway. For the most part, society as a whole has filled the media with allot of material which does have a strong tone, sometimes to strong for children. However, as Jackflash well put it, "So many adults are looking for the government to help raise their kids". I believe that includes the media too. Although we do live in a society where if you have kids, you are weary of what they see or hear. But guess what. It's gonna happen anyways. And although you do not want to directly throw bad things thier way, they will see and hear these things indirectly anyways. So what am I saying? Well, to put it into a simple explination: When you are with your kids, do what you can to prevent them from seeing and hearing these things...BUT, when you're not, do not blame the Government or the Media for thier misbehavior! That gets me, is how parents blame thier kids behavior on those things, rather than steppin back, and LOOKING IN THE GODDAMN MIRROR!!! Fuck! Anyhow. Have some freakin common sense, and don't center in on one person expressing his view, and then blame him for the decay of society. If anything the "decay of society" began well before Howard Stern was born. Have a good weekend, and a Happy thanksgiving.

Actually I have 3 great kids (14F, 18M, 21M) who know that killing is bad and freedom is good. They speak openly about what's going on in their world and they are politically aware. They are not hung up about sex and laugh equally at "hootchies" and "playas" and phony "moralists". In short, they have been equipped to deal with the mixed messages they get in this society. Time for you to be a better parent.

hmmm Howard is trip. Sometimes , his shows are humours and enjoyable especially when he has celebrity guest. However,at times, I used to get sick and tired of some of his old format which consisted of juevenille humour bullshit at times. But now, he is bombarding people with this satellie radio Bullshit. Howard's show now is a bust and his bulletin board is alittle more interesting than his show.

believe it or not ... i actually agree with this post ... good points are made by Jack Flash .... honest ... i only have a little girl - so I am just undertaking such thinking .... etc .. and have a long road ahead of ya ... congrats on your parenting --- i know alot of parents with youngsters who are always second guessing stuff like this ....

so i am assuming ... that u listen to Howard in the car with your 14 yr old girl ... or 18 yr old boy , etc ??? just curious .... and again ... i am not saying it is Pornographic , etc ... but what i guess i do have concerns with .... is ... if howard was allowed to go "anywhere" etc ... and did not have any limits ... just how far would he go ??? etc ...

i for one have watched Howard for a while now ... and i think he is starting to wear on me ... as some others said ... i think the whole cool "in your face colin powells son thing" is just ratings driven ... and ... the whole satellite thing is ... well ... old ....

having said that ... i am sure i will miss alot of things about howard ... some of his celebrity interviews were classic ... with Ahnold ... or .. julia roberts , etc ... classic stuff ... and .. he is kinda a prince fan ....

wink I have been a long time listener of Stern for years and I was surprised when he admitted that he was a fan of Prince. Well, I guess that shows to prove that you just can't deny the funk.

first of all - good luck on the road ahead; my advice is to avoid all those dumb-ass parenting books, but to volunteer as much as you can stand it; my wife and I know what's going on in the lives of our kids and their friends by chaperoning, leading or helping out with whatever activities they are into (Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, ski club, drama club ...); also, don't be nosy, kids need their space - our house is known as a safe haven for neighborhood kids that get thrown out or have difficulties at home; in the end it's a lot of fun being involved like this - I say it keeps me young

with respect to Howard - all my kids have heard him and think he's a silly old man (for example, drooling over Linsey Lohan pix...); they simply think he's a waste of time and other people are funnier (Ali G., Chris Rock, and many others I've never heard of)

actually, I'm tending to agree with them; he has been funnier, but I love the way Stern rants and raves against the religious hypocrites and kiss-ass politicians that seem to be in the ascendency at present

It's mostly allot of political and religious topics. However there are other various topics, such as sports, sex, and general talk. What I like allot about it is that you can say whatever the hell you want. Although you have to be able to take strong critisism, and possible negativity from others. But all in all, everyone who's a member there, including myself, has the sdame mindset (Freedom to express your own oppinion, and the ability to have fun while doing it). I have to say, you seem like a very wise person, and I like your views on this topic in particular. Peace... cool
