VHS officiallly on the way out!

In the UK, huge retailer Dixons announced they would stop manufactoring them!

I do not know about the rest of the world, but Iam not shocked by this at all, though Iam sad as DVD's r not all that at all!

Problems with dvd's

1) The menu's take ages to get through (on big titles).....who gives a shit if menu is animated.....I just wanna c the film!

2) The copyright- u cannot fast forard it!

3) Duel layered dvd's freeze 4 about a second half way through film!

4) Extra's r crap and I only watch 'em once!

But, we all have these rather obvious problems and I will miss seeing goofy trialers to crappy films that u always got on VHS!

But some films u will never be able to buy on DVD so Iam keeping my VHS player 4 ever! Plus DVD recorders r shit at the mo'!

Films I cannot find on DVD:-

1) Moonwalker (Jacko at his best and most weird.narrative wise that is!)
2) Cool as ice (VIP/Vanilla ice movie.a must see)
3) Over the top (Stallone as a truck driver)
4) Don't tell her it's me (Steve guttenberg pretends to be macho to impress a girl- as good as it sounds!)

Plus

all thoe music videos I got like:-

1) Sexy MF
2) Janet Jacksons "r nation" movie
3) Bobby browns vids!
4) C and c music facory
5) Gelnn medeiros
6) Heavy d and the boyz
7) Guy
8) Bellbivdevoe

etc.....anyway ur thoughts?

and a few more crap films I imangine!

VHS is like cassettes though.
You're right about not being able to fastforward through the copyright warnings.
We could always fast forward past the frequency test tones at the start of cassettes when we wanted to. neutral

At least you don't have to rewind a fucken DVD when you're done. And scanning thru different chapters is AWESOME!

Good. I hated VHS. The time it takes to watch the copyright warnings (I think there are actually some players that have the ability to skip over them, anyway, so the point is moot) is saved by the ease of finding your favourite scene in about 5 seconds.

sad Bummer. I kinda like VHS. DVD's are completely unecessary, overpriced pieces of shit.

Besides, I have so many VHS I've saved from my childhood so I could watch them until they wear out. Most of these movies aren't Disney or any other major company, so I wouldn't know where to find them even online. It's a silly thing to be sad about I suppose. sad

Really, the only thing that sucks about going to DVD is when titles are lost and never reissued. mad

Tell me about it. There was only one VHS copy of Farenheit 9/11 at Blockbuster, and it was rented out. neutral

Convert all your VHS tape on2 DVDs. My dad is doing that now. He just bought a DVD Recorder about 2 weeks ago and started dumping all his tapes once he coverted them 2 DVDs. Its less clutter I tell u. wink

I can't do that. Anything I have on VHS that I really want to keep is in really bad condition now because I've had them since I was a baby. They're a lost cause. neutral
