PROJECT SCREENPLAY

PROJECT SCREENPLAY

This is something held at my job www.beverlyboy.com. I figured I'd post it up here to give someone the opportunity to take a shot.

From: Beverly Boy Productions

(305) 944- 0653
(305) 944- 5782

Contact: Tavares Beverly or Nikki (thats me Cherrie)

Subject: Project Screenplay

Copy:
Attention all aspiring writers, LA-Miami based production company Beverly Boy Productions is holding a competition called PROJECT SCREENPLAY and are looking for good quality screenplays. The deadline is January 1, 2005. The genre can be drama, action, or comedy (or a combination). The winning script will be produced in 2005 as an independent film and slated for national distribution.

Submit your script to

Beverly Boy Productions
Attn: Project Screenplay
14879 NE 20th Ave

The scripts will be judged by a panel of industry officials. Once submitted, you will be contacted if your script was not chosen. If your script is being considered, you will be called in for an interview. Scripts should either be copyrighted or owned by the writer.

Good luck to all my fellow orgers!

It seems like this company has never even produced a short fictional film, right? It's all commercials and "info-mercials" judging by the website.

And your text (is it the official one?) doesn't even specify if you're looking for feature-length screenplays or shorts?

Plus, the main page of the website doesn't seem to mention anything about this competition.

The whole thing doesn't seem serious to me, to be honest. I'm sure the intentions are all good and valid, but you have to know what you're getting yourself into. Producing a feature (if that is what you want) is a huge venture even when the budget is low. It requires tons of people with very specific skills.

Oh no, I know I'm being a complete asshole here, but if you click on Industrial Films you're going to get a good laugh.

First the super pretentious motto of the company appears and stays for way too long accompanied by the cheesiest horror film music you've heard in a long time. Then a guy wearing a helmet gets so close (and basically out of frame) to the camera that he almost knocks it over before we cut away from him. Then the clip crashes (at least in my WMP). lol

Don't send your scripts to these people. I'm sure they're making a good living out of what they do, but they sure as hell aren't ready to produce a movie.
