I was told that.... the baby is "label" by its gender and its last name...
for example Girl Williams is this true?

Maybe...depends on the hospital I guess
I dont have children so I cant honestly say.. My wristband is like that; girl(my last name) because I was given my first name after they put the wristband on "Nobody makes me bleed my own blood...NOBODY!"

Moderator | I maybe wrong but I thought that the mother and the baby had wristbands with matching serial numbers. I know that the hospital I used to volunteer at did that, like a little bar code, also the bands were blue for boys, pink for girls and had the first and last name of the child and the mother on them. That was years ago though, but I don't see it changing all that much. In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular. |

That sounds more accurate
I was easy to identify, I came out with a full grown afro. Sorry mom "Nobody makes me bleed my own blood...NOBODY!"

both mom and baby have wristbands that are put on immediately with a number and the mother's name on them, and the sex of the baby on the baby's.
(at least that's how all my friends' were)

That's true too, but they still label the baby by gender and last name, since you usually don't sign the birth certificate (official naming of baby) until you're ready to leave the hospital. However, with the recent "stealing" of babies, a lot of hospitals have gone to the intelligent wristbands Sweeny's talking about. If the baby is taken off the ward an alarm will sound and security will come out of no where and I believe in some hospitals the wards are locked down (like prison) **************************************************

My father is the director of security at a hospital in Philadelphia and my mom works in the intensive care nursery there and they have name bracelets with the baby's mothers name, sex, all that general info, and special anklets that go on the baby that have security sensors on the baby to track if they are moved from the unit. If they're removed, alarms go off.
