I contemplated it...but, I guess I don't have too much of a problem with my shoulders or back to really warrant it. Plus, I have a large frame (I'm tall) so my body can hold 'em. lol
I did have a friend who had it done and there is a danger of losing your nipples. It nearly happened to her because the circulation wasn't coming back as it should have...but, everything is fine now and she is thrilled that she had it done smile
I wish you the best! smile

I know several laydeees that have had the operation. The degree of reduction is up to you. They are often very successful. Don't be put off by horror stories associated with breast enlargement they are quite different.

A friend of mine did this and she was so happy that she went through with it. I don't think it's true you can go braless though! She still has big boobs, just not enormous. And the scarring was very minimal, you can hardly tell.

If it's a health risk you should really consider doing it. I'm sure there are chat rooms and web sites you can check out and talk to people about it.

Good luck!

if you breast are causing you major discomfort then most insurance companies should cover it. if they don;t, you can always sue their asses. My mother represented a woman whose insurance company didn't want to cover her breast reduction surgery and she won. the company had to pay and my mom's client was so thankful. Apparently she was barely five feet tall and had wore a triple D or somesuch.

anyway, look into it and see what your insurance will and won;t cover.

I went for a consult yesterday with a plastic surgeon.
Unfortunately, even though the DR recommends I have the surgery, my insurance company won't pay for it.

Anyone had the surgery?
Anything you can tell me about it?
Is it true you could go without a bra for the rest of your life afterwards?

I'll ask Whateva to reply, she prolly hasn't seen your thread yet.

I did nod

Not much other than it's a heavy operation...don't think too lightly of it.
Make sure you inform yourself properly!!

no no no! No way you could go without a bra for the rest of your life, if you want the scarves to heal and stay 'nice' you're defenitely gonna have to wear a good bra for the rest of your life neutral

Good luck smile

Thanks for everyone's input on this.
To answer the questions - my insurance company has taken a new stance on the procedure and has announced that effective in 2005 - NONE will be approved, regardless of the medical necessity.
I never thought about suing them.

that's a damn shame. i wonder what made your insurance company flip like that? it's not like your getting breast implants.

They don't take of the nipples at surgery, just the flesh around it. Now a days they can even make sure you can even breast feed after surgery.
I had it done, 20 years ago and still enjoy it. (no more back aces and more able to wear beautiful clothes, less staring wink )
Today the techniques are so much better so I wouldn't hesitate if I were you.

mad I think your insurance is stupid, they should pay, they'll be saving themselves money in the long run. sad

I hope I will be able to breastfeed, I'm hoping to have one more child after this one, the surgeon said don't rule it out but don't count on it either, techniques are better now but a drastic reduction still needs a free nipple graft usually.
