Breast Reduction - Anyone had it?

I went for a consult yesterday with a plastic surgeon.
Unfortunately, even though the DR recommends I have the surgery, my insurance company won't pay for it.

Anyone had the surgery?
Anything you can tell me about it?
Is it true you could go without a bra for the rest of your life afterwards?

I went to see a plastic surgeon about 3 weeks ago, and all indications are there for me to have the procedure too. Things are very different here in Australia with insurance, though. I could have the operation as a public patient for free, but the waiting list is anything from 1 year to 6 years, being a low priority operation. I've joined a private health fund so I don't have to wait more than one year, but I will have to pay around AUS$5000 (it would be AUS$10,000 with no cover at all and no waiting).

There are a couple of other girls on the org who have done it and wish they had done it earlier, being so happy with the result. I will get it done early 2006, so I'll tell you all about it then!

I want to be a C-cup and stand up straight.

Excellent, now you'll need to tell me what colour underwear you are wearing. It may not seem important but trust me, from a medical point of view, this info is vital. nod

I get a horrible sensation at night like ants crawling under my skin, which alternates with burning between my shoulder blades, I have to sleep with a hot water bottle most nights.

The surgeon said they would take off about 1.5kg per breast to get me down to a C-cup.

I would be wearing a 32M if there was such a thing, but I have to suffer an ill-fitting bra which causes me constant discomfort. I get my bras from the UK over the internet (www.bravissimo.com - check it out, they have some really nice stuff), Australian stores do not cater for unusual sizes, population too small for it to be profitable, I guess.

It is a dream of mine, and I will redraw on our mortgage to make it a reality. Ahh, a bikini, just imagine... I am lucky to have moral support from all my family.
