I found out on the Wendy Williams show who got voted off before I even watched it. I hate when that happens. Cuz I always tape my shows during the week and watch them later when I get a chance to. But I'll actually talk about the show later, after I watch it. looking for you in the woods tonight Switch FC SW-2874-2863-4789 (Rum&Coke)

I think YaYa had a right to get defensive when that one judge said somethin' like she tries too hard to prove her "Africaness"....maybe that's just who she is. And then they said somethin' like she has a superior attitude.....I haven't noticed anything wrong with her attitude. She seems kinda neutral a lot of the time, but we are watching a tv show and a lot is cut out...so who really knows what happens. You gotta have tough skin to go on that show....I know I would've broken down in tears whenever it came time to go to the panel. looking for you in the woods tonight Switch FC SW-2874-2863-4789 (Rum&Coke)

Yea, the "African-ness" comment bothered me. But she could have had more of a balance between what's "fashion" & what represents her. I don't really get all that shit but they seem to. Maybe a piece of jewelery & one other piece that represents who she is, & the rest geared toward fashionistas. BUT, as much as I like Yaya as a model she does act kind of holier than thow sometimes. I think anyone who speaks about themselves in 3rd person needs to be taken down a peg & she's done that Anyway, the person I'm really gonna miss is Kelly. Watching her break out in tears while looking in the mirror was THE funniest shit on TV

Watching her break out in tears while looking in the mirror was THE funniest shit on TV that was a classic moment....especially when she said "I'm hideous". But I don't get all of the fashion lingo either. Clothes are clothes to me. And when they point out the models flaws in the pictures...I'm all dumbfounded wondering what's wrong with the pictures. They consider to me what seems to be decent pictures horrible. But I'm not in that industry, so I guess I would think like this. looking for you in the woods tonight Switch FC SW-2874-2863-4789 (Rum&Coke)

The only thing that I would recommend she do is put that ehtnicc stuff aside for a minute get her hair relax and chill w/the ethnic wardrobe b/c in life you have to make sacrifices for you career rather you like it or not. She needs to learn this now.

Alex Wek keeps her hair in a very low, natural hair cut and still gets much work while still keeping her "africaness" and I would argue that yaya has more opinions with keeping her hair natural because it can be straighten out as well as kinked up. As far as the wardrobe, she needs balance. A piece of jewerly here and there to keep with who she is would be enough. And big up for Tyra for looking at the stylist like "WTF".....I think as much as YaYa's attitude needed a small adjustment, that stylist should have been checked for the way she criticized yaya. It could have been said differently. Alex [Edited 11/13/04 6:52am]

As for the stylist attitude, its typical of some of the people in the industry. Yaya has to learn how to develop thick skin inorder to deal with the bigotry she will experience in the fashion industry. [Edited 11/13/04 9:36am]

You can still keep with your ethnic look and be a model was my point.

She was quite vocal on the show considering that fact that she hasn't been in the biz. Hopefully, the firms that hire her in the future can look towards ethnic look bias.

Damn, you want her to get some blue contacts too?? DISCLAIMER: I'm not saying anyone Black who relaxes their hair doesn't know who they are either BUT if Yaya were to up & do that to please these fucking judges & the fashion world I'd think she'd lost her way b/c she seems so firmly grounded in who she is... & it ain't some chick on a box of relaxer... . To tell you the truth, I could really give 2 shits what she does with her hair. However, I see potential in her and want the best for her. As a former model, I am aware of the pitfalls, so I will see things in a different light than most orgers. For Yaya to serve as an balance is cool but, she has to know when to keep her fucking arrogant mouth shut and not burn down bridges even when she has to deal with well connected racists bitches. At the end of the day, Opinions are assholes and everyone has one. However for the fucking purpse of this show, the judges decisions count so either Yaya has to get with the program and be able to deal w/constructive bias criticism and move on or else modeling isn't the field for her. As with any profession, no matter how much indidividuality you want to infuse into your job, you have to realize that there is standard way in which things are done and you are subject to be judged rather you like or not.
