sat on the bus last night making my way home... all of a sudden it hit me you see my girls she's 7 years old now, maybe this is going to be the year she STOPS BELIEVING IN FATHER CHRISTMAS .... what the hell do you say ? I need to prepare for it because she's so flippin smart I am expecting it, she doesnt even want to write a letter to santa


Anyway....any bright ideas from peeps who have "been there" or can help ...would be appreciated. Am I worrying over nothing, I dont know how bigga deal this is going to be, but I need to prepare..

I would just continue on as usual and see if she says anything. I wouldn't change anything unless she brings it up first. Good luck

I remember how I found out...

It was Christmas eve and I was so excited I couldn't sleep.. I heard footsteps coming up the stairs and thought.... 'Oh no.. it's Santa... I'm awake'...

.. at which point the sound of jeans rubbing together entered my room, and plonked a big bag of presents down.... I though 'Santa doesn't wear jeans' and had a peek...

Of course it was my dad!

For me it was about 5th grade when some kid said.."There is no Santa."

And I said.."There has to be..My Mom would never buy me all that stuff.."

See, this is why parents need to be up front about this stuff from the get go.

My oldest son was in third grade, when he asked me if the rumors about Santa Claus were true? I asked him what he thought, and he said that he thought me and dad were really buying all of the presents. I admitted it then, but made him promise not to tell his brother or sister. Now my middle son is in 4th grade, and still insists on believing. I really think though that he thinks it would hurt my feelings if he believed otherwise. Now my daughter who is in 2nd grade totally believes 100% in Santa Claus. I just figured that I would not bring it up until they do. If they think that me and dad are really buying the presents, then of course I will admit to it.

Now the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy and two different things. I never let my kids believe in either of those things. I just thought it was ridiculous.

I dunno, I think the gifts will mean more to her if she finds out they are coming from you rather than a complete stranger, who incidentally has been spying on her all year, which is really creepy.

if you dont want to shatter the illusion yet just teller her that Santa has lots of helpers because he's so busy...thats who's dressed up in the Malls and thats who helps spread the presents.

But be warned -Id worked it out by 9 years old

Virginia, your little friends are wrong. They have been affected by the scepticism of a sceptical age. They do not believe except they see. They think that nothing can be which is not comprehensible by their little minds. All minds, Virginia, whether they be men's or children's, are little. In this great universe of ours, man is a mere insect, an ant, in his intellect as compared with the boundless world about him, as measured by the intelligence capable of grasping the whole of truth and knowledge.

Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus. He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy. Alas! how dreary would be the world if there were no Santa Claus! It would be as dreary as if there were no Virginias. There would be no childlike faith then, no poetry, no romance to make tolerable this existence. We should have no enjoyment, except in sense and sight. The external light with which childhood fills the world would be extinguished.

Not believe in Santa Claus! You might as well not believe in fairies. You might get your papa to have men to watch in all the chimneys on Christmas eve to catch Santa Claus, but even if you did not see Santa Claus coming down, what would that prove? Nobody sees Santa Claus, but that is no sign that there is no Santa Claus. The most real things in the world are those that neither children nor men can see. Did you ever see fairies dancing on the lawn? Of course not, but that's no proof that they are not there. Nobody can conceive or imagine all the wonders there are unseen and unseeable in the world.

You tear apart the baby's rattle and see what makes the noise inside, but there is a veil covering the unseen world which not the strongest man, nor even the united strength of all the strongest men that ever lived could tear apart. Only faith, poetry, love romance, can push aside that curtain and view and picture the supernal beauty and glory beyond. Is it all real? Ah, Virginia, in all this world there is nothing else real and abiding.

No Santa Claus! Thank God! he lives and lives forever. A thousand years from now, Virginia, nay 10 times 10,000 years from now, he will continue to make glad the heart of childhood.

My friend was the 1st to find out at school, so she told everyone, ran around proud that she knew the truth thats kids for you

I think Im gonna tell her when she asks, that he did die, but all those she see'e in stores etc, are carrying on his good hard work...whadya think?

I don't know if it's lying to your children. There was a St Nicholas, there is a giving spirit personified by Santa Claus, and there is the fact that you don't want your kid to be "different" or be the kid that spoils it for others.

U c I get a huge cut out of a foot print and infill it with scent free talc and traipse it from the fire to her presents, she was so excited ,she nearly burst,

I technically found out when i was 7! I saw a "big W" price sticker on my fisher price bubble mower (which is alll i wanted) with $79.95...I remember pointing it out to my parents, and before they could say anything i said 'huh! Santa went shopping!!' I turned a blind eye to it...and then finally da boom came when i was 10...my cousin knew about my yellow BMX bike and dat gift tag said "Love, Santa XOXO" ...I was like

I was muuuuch more upset about da easter bunny though- i actually started cryin quite bad I think cause da easter bunny is cute n fluffy...made me all sentimental and emotional
