I don't get why people don't get the coverage this story is getting eek That's a lotta "get's" but anyway...

This story is horrible! I know there's lots of horrible stories out there but this one is really really REALLY fucked up. Maybe I'm just a sap but a woman about to give birth killed by her husband, dumped in the bay, he's on tv lying up a storm saying he didn't do it, blah blah blah. I dunno, I really cared that his ass got sent up for this. I don't mind the coverage at all. confused

i just hope that i never get accused of a crime i didn't commit...espcecially one as horrendous as this. i'm not saying he didn't do it...i really don't know (though i've leaned towards thinking he was guilty) but i do know that the evidence was all circumstantial. too little to convict without some kind of reasonable doubt in the back of the mind.

i really think he did it to. but all you gotta do is take a look at the illinois system. it has been common for people put on death row and later tto be found not guilty through dna.

i know that's right! have you ever seen the documentary "life after death row"? man, its rough to watch but so impotant. lives are destroyed, if not taken, and then it is discovered they were innocent. at least 75 (nationally) people have been exonerated by exculpatory evidence. some were sentenced in cases with similar aspects as the peterson trial.

I can think of many things much worse that might actually benefit from media coverage. In this case the exposure is pretty much wasted.

nod Unfortunately, murder isn't a rare event. Why was this case given so much more attention than any other?

I assumed the OJ trial was so big because he was famous. Was either Scott or Laci famous and I just wasn't paying attention? Because if not, it's pretty unusual that North American media would put so much focus on the case.

Then again, I don't think JonBenet Ramsay was famous outside of the kiddie talent show circuit, so maybe it's not that weird after all....

Ahh fuck it, I give up. A pregnant woman is supposed to be cherished & pampered - instead he killed her ass & threw her in the bay w/ cement anchors. Just another day at the office... eek disbelief

I never said it wasn't a big deal. I said it's (sadly) not rare. Scott Peterson is neither the first nor the last man to kill his pregnant wife. So why did this blow up into an international news story?

Maybe it's the Christmas Eve thing, how people want to be w/ their families more than ever on the holidays but not this asshole. Maybe it was the mom getting on tv crying, getting people to want to help find her even more...

I don't know why. But I'm certainly not angry about it. It's horrible & sad - why shouldn't it be major?

Maybe all murders should be a major story, instead of buried 6 pages into the paper like so many are.

OJ got away with killing Nicole. Scott did not get away with killing Laci.

I still don't understand all the media attention. I remember a few times when someone local was murdered, and it was nothing more thna a tiny blurb back on page eight or whatever, Yet the saga of Scott and Laci regularly ended up on the front page. confused
