11 ways to help

November Campaign

For the past few years, volunteers across the country have helped to get the word out during Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month in November. Please review the following options to find out if YOU want to help us raise awareness during Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month. Please do not hesitate to contact the PanCAN headquarters at 877-272-6226 if you have any questions, or need the materials for any of these awareness activities.

1. Raise Funds for Research: Pennies for PanCAN
Pennies for PanCAN is a national awareness and fundraising campaign taking place in November to recognize National Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month in local schools and businesses. The money raised through this program will go directly toward funding a PanCAN Career Development Award or a Young Investigator Award for pancreatic cancer research. With Pennies for PanCAN, you can encourage your whole community to make an impact with just pennies. To request a Pennies for PanCAN packet, contact Leanne Yagiela at the PanCAN office or by email at lyagiela@pancan.org.

2. Participate in PanCAN’s Purple Ribbon Campaign
Help us raise awareness during Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month by distributing purple die cut awareness ribbons to local grocery stores, drug stores, and community centers. These purple awareness ribbons will be sold for $1 each. All of the proceeds raised from this awareness campaign will do directly towards PanCAN’s programs. To request materials for the Purple Ribbon Campaign, contact Leanne Yagiela at the PanCAN office or by email at lyagiela@pancan.org.

3. Post a PALS Poster or Distribute PALS literature
Our goal is to outreach to as many places and people across the country as possible about our PALS program. We want to target oncologist’s offices, local institutions and hospitals, local American Cancer Society offices, service organizations, etc. To request PALS materials to distribute, contact Leanne Yagiela at the PanCAN office or by email at lyagiela@pancan.org.

4. Contact your local Media to get the Word out about PanCAN!
Contact Your Local Media and Share Your Story
Reaching out to media with press releases enables us to generate publicity and awareness of the disease. The best time to start: three months in advance for regional magazines; two-months in advance for television or radio interviews; and one month in advance for daily and weekly newspapers. For questions on media tips, contact Angela Johnson at 877-272-6226 or by email at ajohnson@pancan.org.

Contact your local Radio and TV stations with a Public Service Announcement (PSA)

This is a great way to get airtime with your local TV and radio. These media outlets frequently air PSA, and it’s a good way to reach a large audience.

You can also see if your company has a matching gift program. Your donation is greatly appreciated. You can donate by visiting us online at: https://pancan.securesite...tions.html or by calling 977-272-6226.

11. Tell Someone – Share
It’s as simple as that. The act of sharing, even to one person, can make a huge impact.

Pancreatic cancer seems to be one that kills very quickly. A man at my old job was diagnosed and was dead less than a year later. He had a wife and a 4 year old girl. It was very sad.sad
