I saw them too! I'd never seen them before, it was SO COOL. From looking at pictures, I never realized that they stream and shimmer and move like they do. Awesome.

The light pollution here is pretty bad, and I think that made the colors look a lot less dramatic. I called my parents to tell them to go outside and look, though, and they live way out in the boonies. I need to call them and get a report. I feel so lucky to have gotten a lunar eclipse and northern lights so close together and both on clear nights. I'm such a nerdball.

Dude, I totally saw them too. I took my dogs for a walk at about 10 last night. At first I didn't notice anything. We live right on Lake Huron; just step out the front door and you're on the beach basically. When I looked East I thought, hmmm, the moon must be coming up behind the clouds cuz that's awfully bright. Then I started heading South. After a minute or two I realized it was too bright considering there was no moon. Then I looked up.
I've honestly never seen anything like it. I've seen Northern Lights before but only a little patch and it wasn't moving. It started in the North and a little bit East and just kept coming until it filled the whole sky. It was constantly moving, shifting and bending. It's impossible to describe really. I didn't see any super intense greens, but a lot of whites, blues and pinks. The whole sky looked like it was melting. Truly spectacular. It felt like a little gift from the universe in a year when everything's been a trial. I loved it. I probably just stood on the beach for two hours just staring up. Everything was super clear too because the beach is about a quarter mile away from the main roads. I even saw a shooting star that moved slowly across the sky and then burned up in the atmosphere. Lovely!

I'm so glad you got to see them...I'm sure it was just magical watching them over Lake Huron I had never seen them before, either...I felt really blessed because I've always wanted to! We're supposed to be able to see them again tonight! Keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars

I was driving home from work around 11pm heading north and saw them. I thought it was the reflection of the city lights on my very dirty windshield at first.

Keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars Yes, they were breathtaking. They're supposed to be for 3 nights straight with the 3rd night being the most intense. I was afraid we wouldn't get a chance to watch tonight cuz it's been cloudy all day, but it just cleared up. This is right around the time I noticed them last night. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Amazing! I hope you do too, hon! It's an amazing thing mother nature at her finest The only thing...is that it means that you'll have to spend some chilly winter nights here in the northeast or midwest!
