Either... it depends on what you are most comfortable in. I for one love to sleep in mens boxers, buy them specifically for me (no I don't steal them).

If the gut is hanging out some (it happens)... I would say boxers (something loose) would probably be a bit less harsh. ~Smile. My opinion of course.
