I may be wrong about this, but I thought the address book was saved within the PST file, that is, the file that stores all your old e-mails and stuff.
If you do a search for *.pst with the find feature, and find one or more, it's probably the largest one... Then, you link your account to that PST file under tools. I may be wrong though. Good luck. Maybe try contacting the place that repaired it and see if they removed all of outlook express and installed it fresh. Maybe they can steer you in the right direction.
That sucks.... | |

They are probabbly still there. Outlook Express stores all your emails in several files that end in the extension ".dbx". Your address book is stored in a file that ends in the extention ".wab".
You can have multiple "Identities" with Outlook Express. Meaning, each time you create a new identity, it creates a whole new and seperate set of ".dbx" and ".wab" files. The old ones still remain intact on your computer. Do a wildcard search for both using "*.dbx" and "*.wab" (minus the quotes), and take a look at the file sizes and where they are located. Once you find your old dbx files and wab files (which will have the bigger file size), just copy and paste them to overrite the ones you are currently using, and that will restore your emails, address book, and account information. The full version of Outlook uses a similar approach, but stores everything in a file that ends with the extension ".pst" instead. | |
