think what you want, I won't mess with the things either, baby. You can't handle watching violent movies, yet you wanna play with fire? You have had real people who have moved into your home--remember how is was so difficult to get them to leave? Spirits are not easy to evict, either! And with kids around...no way would I do that.

its true, i dont like violent movies shake but, i am very curious about the spirits that are out there and what they have to say... i am not saying it would all be good, but, surely, there is something to be learned from them. i really believe that we get carried away in our everyday lives, and whats going on with us... and we forget that there are "others" around us shrug

i dont know as its something i would do twice, but, the experience could be interesting to say the least... truthfully, its kinda creepy where i live... lawrence, kansas has much history behind it in that there were many people killed here.

CITIZENS' MEMORIAL MONUMENT.
The monument measures 8 feet by 4 feet at the base, and stands 8 feet and 7 inches high; weight, 45,000 lbs.; cost, $1500. It is carved from Barre, Vt., granite. The front bears the inscription: "Dedicated to the memory of the one hundred and fifty citzens who, defenceless, fell victims to the inhuman ferocity of border guerrillas, led by the infamous Quantrill, in his raid upon Lawrence, August 21st, 1868. Erected May 30th, 1895." On the reverse side is this notice: "The roll of their names can be found in the City Clerk's office, Lawrence, and in the State Historical Society, Topeka."

theres supposed to be a haunted hotel downtown, i would love to stay there sometime, and, my brothers home was here in the 1800's sometime, though he has done much to restore it and add additions on to it, he has managed to preserve quite a bit of its original look and feel. im not saying i want evil around me, but, i am saying it would be interesting to "know".

I still have mine. I bought it in a store 6 years ago (in the games section - toys). I tried it once and it did not seem to work. Maybe I was not concentrating. I put it away and it still sits in my drawer. I have never gone to retry it. Although nothing bad or weird happened after that.

This thread is making me get chills. It's creeping me out omg What to do with my board???

Pardon me for being a cynic, but people and otherwise ratinal adults actually believe in this?
I've played with ouija boards several times in my life. I thought it would be really fun and spooky and cool when I was young, specificaly cause it came outta the attic of a friend of the family's house that my mother swore had a ghost living there. Nothing bad ever happened and in fact, nothing really happened period. Either it didn't move, or it was obvious who was moving it. Nothing bad happened to me later. Nor any of my friends with whom I played with it. It's still at my parents house. shrug

If I am to burn it, then I will have to call the fire department. Do I have to explain I was burning a Ouija board cuz of bad spirits?

Someone open my drawer for me, I wanna hide.

Ouija Board Tips

Have an open mind. If you believe the board isn't going to work, it probably won't.

Be serious, but not too serious. You don't want to giggle and laugh hysterically, but it is OK to have fun with it. Some people even think laughter attracts spirits/ghosts.

Limit the number of people playing. Try not to have more than 4-5 people touching the planchette at once. If you have more than 4-5 people who want to try it, just take turns.

We usually light a candle or have a small flashlight on. This is mainly so we can see what the board is spelling out, but it also adds an eerie effect and helps put you in the ouija mood!

Don't try to contact anyone specifically. A good question to ask is "Is there anyone in the room with us now?". You shouldn't fully believe that the spirit you're talking with is really who they say they are.
Don't fully believe/act upon anything the board spells out. In my opinion, this is the only dangerous part of using an ouija board. Think about it - this is a board game...why in the world would you take anything it spells out as 100% true?! Just have fun with it, don't look at it as some super powerful tool.
Some people claim that saying a protective prayer/spell is a good way to get results. Here are some prayers my friend Michelle found in a book that are supposed to help with the ouija board:

Invocation for Creating a Sacred Space (say before using the board):

Dear Spirit,
As I light these candles, bless this sacred place.
Let the light of their flames radiate love and protection to all four corners of this room.
I ask at this time that any negative energies be released from this space.
With a bath of white light, I ask that it be cleansed and neutralized.
Turn my dwelling into a sanctuary.
May it be the foundation for your teachings and the inspiration for my higher perceptions.

Invocation for Protection (another one to say before using the board):

Dear Spirit,
As I sit with you now, I open my heart.
I surround myself with the love and light of your protection.
I release any negativity that I have picked up throughout the day so that I speak to the universe with the purity of my soul.
I ask that any energy (information, healing) be given for my absolute good.
Dismiss now all energies that are not of the Highest and Greatest source.
As I bathe in your grace, I will listen to your resounding voice within me.
I will be true to my hear and your gentle guidance.
(you can follow this with a moment of appreciation for the universe...)

Invocation for Closing Your Connection and Your Sacred Space (say this one after you've finished using the board):

Dear Spirit,
Thank you for sharing this sacred time with me.
I appreciate the flow of energy I have just experienced.
I will use it for my highest good.
As I blow out these candles, I close this sacred space, and ask that your protection surround me wherever I go today.
